IN MEMORIAM (The following tribute, written by Sara Webb, appeared in THE HINDSONIAN, January 7, 1959.) In the misty rain of morning, in a spot blanketed by flowers, Virginia Ann Owen was quietly laid to rest in the Ed- wards cemetery, last Wednesday. She left us at the dawn of a new day, and in the very morning of her life. The vacant chair beside us in our classes is a painful reminder that she is gone. However, let us not say she is gone, for she will live forever in our hearts. We will not soon forget the particular way that she led the line of Hi-Steppers on the field, or her radiance at the Circle K Christmas dance, or the funny way she was dressed on Freshman Day, or how pleased she was over an inexpensive birthday gift at a small party in Westside Dormitory honoring her eighteenth birthday only three Short weeks before her death. Some of these images may fade with time, but we will always have the warmth of her beautiful smile and the radiance of her wonderful personality locked in our hearts; and we will never, never escape the strong Christian influence that she exerted upon our lives. That such have died enable us The tranquiller to die. That such have lived, certificate For immortality.
