Render Yeoman Service tried to keep the campus clean, especially the parking lot area, by reminding careless students to pick up their rubbishg and they exercised general supervision over campus behavior. The busiest place during the lunch period. the cafeteria, was under the watchful eye of Capiain Donald Sanchez and his alert cafeteria squad. lmpa- tient students who tried to cut-in or in any way in- fringe upon the rights of others, were restrained by this faithful squad. Captain Lorna Kobayashi and her building squad kept the thoughtless hallway blockers and persistent smokers reminded to abide by the school regulations. Running in halls and sitting on the railing were strictly taboo, and the building squad were always on hand to enforce the regulations. Another duty of this group was to assist at student body assemblies, when they kept a restraining watch over any would-be rowdies. They were also doorkeepers. ESPRIT de CORPS The IPO force had harmony and success not only in work but also in play. They entered a basketball team in the inter-club league. Clarence Mauhili coached, and players Henry Segawa, Baron Nakatani, and Iohn Malo starred on the flatfoot squad.

Rudy Gutib. unior Police Officers To keep order and insure good citizenship gen- erally. the 98 members of the Iunior Police Organiza- tion. under the leadership of Sheriff Henry Segawa and Deputy Robert Raneses. sacrificed much of their time to serve the school. Adviser Shigeo Nakamura, acting for his third year in that capacity. had the help of Aide Clyde Cabrinha. QUALIFICATIONS Only dependable students with average or higher than average academic standing were acceptable as members of the IPO. Special privileges were granted to the junior flatfootsu. Those in study halls were excused twenty minutes before the first lunch bell and those in class were excused ten minutes early. In the traffic division. the afternoon squad members were ex- cused from homeroom monitor duties. FOUR DIVISIONS For efficiency, the organization was divided into four squads: traffic. campus, cafeteria, and building. The traffic division. headed by Paul Sakai had a morning and an afternoon group under Lieutenants Richard Furukavva and Pui I-Iung Kow, respectively. These groups supervised the motor traffic on VVaia- nuenue Avenue and were on the look-out for jay- wallters and other traffic offenders. Closely connected to the traffic division was the campus squad captained by Clarence Mauhili. They
