A dance was held for the Kohala team. The championship trophy was engraved, financed by the Athletic Fund. Medals were awarded to the players. The out-dated school constitution was revised so that the government could function better. There was a campaign for more student interest in the government and for improvements in the set-up. The senior logbook recorded their dance, their play, and their assistance as seniors to usher at Mlacbeth,,' starring Maurice Evans and Judith Anderson. Their refreshments at the student body dance, the T. B. tests, the university tests, class day, and graduation will be memories to be dusted out in the future. Prexy Seito Ikeda, Vice Prexy Makoto Fukuda, Secretary Shizue Kuwa- hara, Treasurer Matsuko Kuwahara, and Repre- sentatives Ruth Murashi ge and Yoneo Sagawa led the seniors on their last walk of their high school journey. Miss Mew Soong Chock, Mrs. Lucille Canario, Miss Sara G. Rudd, Mr. Keith Shogo Abe, and Mr. Llewellyn Rowlands were senior advisers. The juniors sponsored the Initiation Dance, the Junior Dance, decorated the gym for the stu- dent body dance, and ably undertook the Junior- Senior Prom. The administration functioned un- der the hands of President Yukimasa Okamoto, Vice President Ethel Kim, Secretary Tsuyuko Ha- makawa, Treasurer Fujie Kushi and Representa- tives Matsuko Hisanaga and Henry Wong. Advis- ers were lVDiss Mary H. Black, Mrs. Catherine Crawford, Mr. Eiuicho C. Chung, and Mr. Charles S. Putnam. In their first year at Hilo High, the suffer- mores placed their confidence in President Rich- ard Segawa, Vice President Robert Mukai, Secre- tary Yukio Naito, T1'easurer Thelma Chock, and Representatives, Alice Marutani and Harold Ku- wahara. Red letter events for sophomores were: Initiation Day, a Valentine Dance, and the student body dance at which they did clean-up duty. Ad- visers Miss Marion Campbell, Mrs. Louise M. Bu- din, Mrs. Catherine Constance Wence, Mr. Yasuo B. Ishikawa, and Mr. Thurston Kuroyama helped them to get acquainted with their new alma mater. The Finance Committee headed by Jane Fujii, set up a budget and supervised other financial matters. Every day, Chairman Mamoru Muraoka, W oon Hark Paik, Yasuo Enomoto, and Kenneth Haina, diligently undertook their Hag duties. Honor Point Chairman Yaeko Fujimoto with Hideko Kiyokawa and Thomas Chow revised honor point rules this year. The Property Committee was headed by Fran- cis Ichikawag the Printing Committee, by Robert Ogig the War Record Committee, which compiles the names of alumni in service, by Namie Naka- murag the Athletic Committee, by Tooru Hara. Service with a smile. Whenever visitors stepped into the campus, they were graciously re- ceived by Margaret Wessel and her receptionists Alice Fujikawa, Myrtle Chun, Elaine Lee, Ernest- ine Warner, Eloise de Silva, and Martha Fujioka. Chieko Yoshida of the Vocational Guidance Committee was aided by Chiyoko Minaai and Ad- viser Frank Rapozo. Harold Luscomb, chairman of the Program Committee, set up a calendar of coming events for the year and sponsored concerts, quiz contests and a May Day Program. Ever on hand to see law and order were Sheriff Iwao Watanabe and his force. They patrolled the campus and guided school traffic. Officers were Deputy Sheriff Elmer Keliikuloa, Captains Yuki- masa Okamoto, Henry Wong, and James Tong, Lieutenant Captains Herbert Inaba and Kiyoto N ishida, and Lieutenant Richard Segawa. , 'W.u.
