This is important work because the models are needed for training classes. It's also important because it has taught the boys much about airplanes and that's going to be quite important in the air age that's right around the corner. But that's not ali the shop boys have done. They've built all kinds of things for agencies outside of school like the Red Cross and the O. C. D. The three R's, as always, have received great attention. Algebra, plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry are the courses offered by Mr. Tin Pui Kamm and Mr. Benjamin Ishikawa. The twelve teachers who comprise the English Department-Mrs. De Ette Carter, Miss Marion Campbell, Miss Sara Rudd, the senior teachers: Mrs. Loleta Moir, Mr. Keith S. Abe, Miss Mary Black, and Mrs. Marjorie Hartman, the junior teachers, Mrs. Irene D. Brown, Mrs. Louise Budin, Mr. Clement de Silva, and Mrs. Eleanor Schoen, the sophomore teachersg and Mrs. Aleta Smith, head of the department and special instructor in remedial work-have striven to teach the essen- tials of composition, correct speech, and have tried unendingly to interest boys and girls in literature which will prove a comfort and an in- spiration in the years of their adult lives. ilvvfrilv waii-Student Body 1,2,3. The Representative Assembly fulfilled the de- mand for a larger paper and annual, set up a Christmas Postal System in December, placed a contest on the Constitution, and sponsored a dance in Ap1'il. The Assembly approved purchas- ing' a se1'vice flag, investing any available money olf the reserve fund in war bonds and creating a committee to acknowledge regret to families of the graduates killed in service.
