FROMS ST SERVICE TO SUCCESS Service clubs play a very important part at our school and Opti-miss plays it well. They felt they had a great year being involved in community and school activities. Opti-miss actively partici- pated in Halloween Kozacs. As their service project, they sponsored Krazy Kozacs, and donated the money to the school in the names of all the girls' service clubs. To help boost school spirit they sold spirit ribbons for every foot- ball game. ln the community they visited a children's home during Christmas and Easter, sharing their love and friend- ship and giving their time to the children. As club president D. Smith stated, We have the best club that has ever hit our school since it has been erected. J. Alonso and C. Cotarelo modestly pose during an Opti-miss meeting. D. FIYT' Junior Optimist cheers the Terriers on to another vic- tory. UNITED WE STAND . . . The purpose of service clubs was to contribute much to the school and to the com- munity. The clubs were pres- ent at all the football games, displaying their spirit and pride through their signs and cheers. Service club days were anxiously anticipated by all members of each club. Many money-raising projects were organized and carried out by the clubs, such as visit- ing convalescent homes and orphanages. Much good-will and happiness were distrib- uted by each member who volunteered. Every club had basically the same goal: bet- tering themselves and their school. United as one club these caring students made up the true Terriers of the Big Red. E9 x' S Opti-Miss secretaries, C. Cotarelo and S. Cigarran, keep track of the minutes. ! OPTIMIST HAS IT ALL When you say Junior Opti- mist you've said service, pride, spirit, tradition, fun, and excitement. SERVICE was shown as J.O. thoroughly cleaned the entire trophy case. PRIDE was demonstrated as beat cards were sold throughout our football season. At the games everyone felt the SPIRIT that they contributed. TRADITION was displayed every Friday as the colors red and black flashed through the halls. FUN, came from knowing this great group of guys. The EXCITEMENT arrived at the Terrier Bark when they won the award for best skit. This was the sixth consecutive year which is a first in Hillsbor- ough's history. During our football games the guys from J.O. were either on the field or in the stands cheering until they became hoarse. Junior Optimist was talented enough to come up with their own cheers, although many needed to be censored by Mr. Wilson, co- sponsor for the club. Together with co-sponsors N. Capitano and V. Wilson, Junior Optimist felt they had another fantastic year. Officers are proud of their club. A service to our school makes the trophies shine. , ... Q 'Q hx
