The Turkey Day game, played on Thanksgiving, marks 42 years of tradition between two rivals, Plant and Hillsborough. lt is the oldest rivalry in this area still in existence. Although it is such a time-honored tradition, spirit seems to reach a new peak each year, with posters, ribbons, and banners decorating Hillsborough days before the big event. Each Turkey Day is always looked eagerly forward to and carefully planned for. This year was no exception. Over l0,000 people turned out with rain coats and umbrellas on a dismal, rainy Thanksgiving which, it appeared, left many of them little to be thankful for. As both teams moved up and clown the field, it seemed only a matter of time before the Terriers would score yet another victory in their final test of the season. This was not to be the case. As the fourth quarter ended, the scoreboard showed through the rain that the Panthers had managed to score a hard-earned 3-O victory. Despite the loss, the Terriers still hold a 23-T3-7 edge in the series, Although greatly disappointed, Terrier fans realized that, win or lose, in their hearts Big Red would always be number one. l 1 A X X W
