THIS is Hillsborough! It's a good school, a proud school, a school of precious traditions. Here there is more than a handsome building, there is a student body overflowing with courage, determination, and lively school spirit. This is a student body willing and eager to preserve our tradi- tions. Our Terrier Creed, our outstanding athletic record, and our many scholastic honors name only a very few' of our achievements. This is Hillsborough! The seal that appears on the title page and on our senior rings is symbolic of Hillsborough attitudes. The torch represents knowledge and the laurel wreath, victory. The Latin motto Possunt quia posse videntur, means They can because they think they can. We can-hold high the torch of learning, wear with dignity the laurel wreath of achievement, respect and obey our Terrier Creed, honor our country's flag, pay tribute to those who gave their lives for us and our nation, and take time to worship God. We can because we think we can, because these things are good and worthy of all the spirit and cour- age of Hillsboreans. This is Hillsborough! It is a proud school with the will to win. The torch of knowledge and the laurel wreath of victory are its symbols. Our Terriers stand ever ready to honor, defend, and uphold Hillsborough High School and the dear old Red and Black. WE STPJ E TU PHESEH E A school year holds many things. There is, of course, the 5- beginning-when the sophomores invade the school, adding color and interest with their bright red faces and their sincere but puz- zled expressions. Soon we settle down to a steady diet of home- work and outside activities. There are all sorts of special events like train trips and parties to interrupt the routine and en- liven the year. Special honors come to us and to the school. As the days go by we notice that simple things like attending chapel in the morning or meet- ing friends after school are of in- creasingly greater importance. Our day is a whirl of activity- and We love it! The year goes by in almost no time. Soon, very soon our years at Hillsborough will be over, but the memories and friendships fostered here will last as will the atmosphere and traditions that are Hills- borough.
