GAITHER, our beloved principal, began teaching school, liked the contact with boys and girls very much, and became a school man instead. Before coming to Hillsborough, Mr. Gaither taught in Ala. . . . he likes football very muchetHis wife could tell you how big a job she had keeping him in bed When he was ill . . . How he DID want to see that Lee gamelhehe likes tennis, swimming, golf . . . enjoys being with young people . . . spends his summers at 3 Boys, camp in the Carolinas . . . is definitely a professional manehas two well-earned degrees: B.S., Peabody, and M.A., Columbia University, New York City. Mr. Gaither is an outstanding citizen . . . he is a Rotarian, a high-ranking Mason, 3. member of the Hills- borough County Teachersi Federation, and an active member of the First Baptist Church. As a person, everyone at H.H.S. loves Mr. Gaither because he is kindly, full of fun, able and serious in his work, a lover of justice and fair-play, and he is a genuine friend to both teachers and students.

DEDICATION For many years, she worked cheerfully and patiently helping to formulate courses of study in THE SOCIAL SCIENCES Department. Many policies now followed in her department were originated or initiated by her. Her interest in her work is great, and her interest in her students is PERSONAL. She never shirks extra-curricular responsibilities -this year, she sponsored the Junior Red Cross in H.H.S. She likes traveling and reading. Being a friendly person, she is well-liked by both teachers and students. She has a keen sense of humor, but is quick to sympathize With anyone in trouble; her praise for good work is quick and sincere. She is a faithful church member, and tries to be truly Christian in her daily contacts. Because of her fine character, and because of her long faithful service to Hillsborough High School, we are happy to use this opportunity to show our honor and love for MISS GLADYS GRAHAM T0 laer we respectfully dedicate this, the 1946 H ILSBOREAN .

MIss ELSIE HOYT A.B., Swarthmore, Swarthmore, Pennsylvania M.A., Columbia University, New York City Dean of Girls Once She Managed Her Own TearOOMe- Are you surprised? Yes, MISS ELSIE HOYT, our Dean of Girls, in a nearby loca- tion opened a quaint, charming tearoom. The press of other duties caused her to abandon the enterprise. Among the duties assumed by Miss Hoyt, are: responsibility for Girls, attendance and discipline; super- vision of the inflrmaryeshe is often called upon to administer First Aidegiving of ad- vice or guidance to Girls and similar tasks. Never does she have a Dull day.
