Preceded by a small advance guard in 1958, the main body of the class invaded Vlckery-Hillcrest in the fall of 1959. During this first year Miss Lewis served as sponsor and Dan Cheaney as president, and under their leadership the class par- ticipated in many activities, the most noteworthy of which was the Freshman-Sophomore hayrlde at Flagpole Hill, on May l7,1942. Patsy Kuhnell headed the class during its second year, a- gain with Miss Lewis as sponsor. The social highlight of the season was the Sophomore treasure hunt, given at Bachman's Lake May 16, 1941. For the next two years, Mrs. Graham was class sponsor and John Morton president. As Juniors, the class greatly profited, both spiritually and financially, by the production of the Jun- ior Play, 'Safety First' staged at the grade school on March 6, 1942. But the real thrill of the year was the annual Junior- Senlor Banquet and Prom of May 16, the Juniors being host to the Seniors at the banquet and the Seniors, under Jimmy Long as pre- sident, entertaining the Juniors at the Prom. The Senior year of '42-'45 promises to surpass all pre- ceeding years in eventfulness. At the date of writing, one party, a hayride, has already been given, and at least two other major events - the Senior play and the Jun1oruSen1or Banquet and Prom of '45 are yet in the making. On May 51, 1945, the Senior Class will leave Vlckery- Hillcrest - some to attend college, some to seek work, and many to enter the armed forces. wherever they go, they will try to justify the hopes that their school has for them.
