SENIOR PLAY JMURDERED ALIVE? The Senior Class presented its annual play March 27, 1942. The play 6Murdered Alive' was a three-act mystery comedy. The cast was composed of the following. Mrs. Libby Ryder, A society matron. ..... ..., Judith Miller Tillie Meek, a maid ...................... ....Norma Stanley Arden Ryder, her charming young daughter... ..... -Doris Green Stella Backus, who'rules the roost ......... .... Betty Gressett Frank Backus, her weaker half ................. ........ jimmy Long Iris Alda, who gets messages from the dead .... .... Clare Whitcomb Otis Marvin, a lawyer ........................ ..... Bob Atkisson Warner Melton, in love with Arden .......... .... Raymond Thomas Luverne Speed, from Creston Corners ..... ,.. .... Dorothy Thomas Acton Chance, a correspondence school . detective .... .... Jimmy Scott Arline Evans, charming and refined.. ....... .... Eloise Dunham The Mysterious Stranger, who is all the name implies ......... ... ..... Bryant Scalf Miss Bellows ...... . .............. . .................. Senior Sponsor Wealthy Marvin Ryder has been killed in a motor accident. His lawyer wires all the heirs to come to 'Hi1lcrest', the count- ry estate of the deceased. The will mentions most of the re- latives, and then the lawyer reads two codicils attached to the will. Marvin Ryder set aside 510,000 to capture his murderer and the same amount for the person or persons who capture the criminal. Things begin to happen! There are many strange noises and weird occurances. Acton Chance, a correspondance school de- tective, tries to find the murderer, but he is only made ridicu- lous. The romance is furnished by Arden and Warner, Mrs. Ryder and Otis, and Tillie and Acton. , SENIOR PROM On May 16, 1942 at 10:00 p.m. students and facultynmmbers assembled in the gym for the annual Senior Prom. lThe Flight Theme,' which was used by the juniors in their banquet, was carried out to perfection in the decoration of the gym. The orchestra fulfilled everyonegs highest expectations. The grand march was led by the president of the Senior Class and his date, followed by the president of the Junior Class and his date. ' With the students and teachers looking their best, the Prom was enjoyed by everyone. li X x

'THE DIGNIFIED SENIORS' once upon a time ln the deep Forest of Vlckery-Hillcrest lived three DBHTSL jimmy Long, the papa bearg Betty Gressett, the mama bearg and Bill Aly, the baby bear. They were very happy in their little home with no one to bother them. one day mama bear cooked some porrldge, but lt was too hot to eat so the three bears went for a stroll in the woods. As they passed under an old oak tree, the beautiful songs of four lit- tle birds could be heardg Judy Miller, joe Bond, Betty Erick- son, and Edward Zbylot. Their songs seemed to paralyze the woods. The three bears strolled still on until they came to a small brook. It was filled W1th,Sma1l fishy some we recog- nize as being jane Charles, Edgar Hale, Marjorie Manning, and Bryant Scalf. And over on the bank sat a big green frog whom they TDOUQHE was Bill Yetter. The scene now changes, and we see a little girl lost from her poor mother and daddy: Sarah Bush and Paul Powell. she 1s on her way to her grandmother's, Gloria Easley. She wanders back and forth ln the woods, crying as if her little heart would break. Her golden hair blowing ln the wind! Walt! It must be little Golden Locks. Yes, it ls, and who do you think it is? None other than Norma Stanley. n she has almost given up hope of ever finding her sees a little cottage Just down the hill ln a small when she reaches the home, she knocks, but no one She enters and finds three bowls or porridge, the of which she eats. She then gets sleepy and goes on the smallest of the three beds. back to the bears. Thinking the porridge has coole Whe way, she clearing. answers. smallest to sleep NOW enough, they start back home. Mama bear screams as a little rabbit, Hollis Hogan, Jumps up and hops oft. The scare makes her very nervousu They continue and are stopped by a chatter in Ehe trees. The chatter ls made by five little squirrels Curtis Williamson, Clare Whitcomb, Dorothy Thomas, Shirley Dieterich, and jack Norton asfthey feather their nests with nuts to last through the cold winter that is to come. They hurry on toward home when whom do you think they meet? None other than some of their old school cubsg Eugene Spillman, Mary Martha Mayes, jimmy Scott, Evelyn Lawrence, Edward Joyce, and -the twins bears, joan and Marinan Graham After a short chat, they part and soon reach home. Baby bear reeds some wild carrots that he has round to his pet bunnies, Doris Green and Raymond Thomas. Very much excltment takes place when they find their soup gone, and a little girl asleep in baby bearfs bedt Hearing the noise, she awakes and is very frightened to see the bears. She rushes out of the house End into the woods. Some of her little forest friends lead her to her grandmotherfs house. They were Bob Atkisson, the chlpmonkg Mary Beth Blair, the weaselg Virginia Armer, the porklplneg and joe Whitley, the fox.
