The rams were in con- tention for the league champion- ship until the very end. When quarterback Ken Feher broke his finger at mid -season the future looked bleak, but the team ral- lied behind Junior Tom Burnison for a fine 6-3 season. They will be looking forward to a better season as J.V. players. They had a tough season ending 4 and 4 for the league. The only run- ner that participated in the state meet was Lee Morse who ended up 15th out of a 140 runners. The Ram Harriers will be looking forward to a better season next year . Vahsity Wrestling The Montrose Wrestlers started out as if they wanted to win a championship, and they did. The Varsity, led by the Severn brothers, upped its winning streak to 40 wins, while the J.V. upped theirs to 45 wins, both going undefeated this season. Winning several tournaments , including the Montrose Inivtational , and placing highly in many others, the Rams Wres- tlers had one of the most successful seasons Montrose has ever seen. 1 SnL J Hr - Montrose 43 Lakeville 12 Montrose 31 Durand 22 Montrose 43 Bendle 9 Montrose 34 Linden 25 Monuose 51 Hamady 11 Dave Gevefn Tours Russia Hi: Combination Restaurant and Museum Dave qualifie d to go to Russia by winning in many different summer wrestling tournaments nationwide. Upon completing these, he went to training camp in Nebraska for a week, after that he flew to Moscow. In Russia he wrestled in six different towns in 22 days , and met with many of the Russian people. After completing the wrestling schedule, he couldn ' t wait to get back home to the United States . Led by their 3 high school AU- Americans Ken Feher, Jim Ellis, and Rob Per- sails, the roundballers were a delight to watch. Dallas Parks, Mr. Hustle had a fine senior sea- son, and the added strength came from Lee Morse , Jim Cole , and Don Stratton . The spirited bench support came from Joe Eicholt, Brian Per- sons, and Ross Driver. Coach Beale can expect many fine seasons in the future . J.V. The frosh averaged 63 points per game while surrendering a mere 31 points per contest. There were no stars on the freshman team, but there were no weak links as the Rams enjoyed balanced scoring and a strong team pride in defense in every game they played. The future looks bright for these Freshman Rams.
