RAMBLER A NEW STEP FORWARD NINETEEN SIXTY-FOUR HILL-McCLOY SENIOR HIGH MONTROSE, MICHIGAN
”

We dedicate our Rambler for 1964 to our old Montrose High School. We were eager to move to our new school but for many this was also a sad occasion. For the seniors and some juniors, this old hall holds many memories of the times gone by— memories of freshmen initiations, hearing the floor creak as you leave study hall, seeing Mrs. Rhoads, stuffed away in her cubbyhole office, and watching the seniors, class af- ter class, leave our midst with only their pictures on the wall to remember them by. Perhaps to the seniors of 1964, the memories in this old hallway, are more dear to them than those they have accumulated in their last year. They are proud to say they attend- ed Hill-McCloy, but they have a greater pride in having been a part of the Montrose High School. Martha Luard, who was a close and dear friend of all who knew her, was killed in a tragic auto accident on October 18, 1963. She was an outstanding student, not only scholastically, but also in her personality and character. As an athlete, she excelled in basketball and softball. She was honored with the American Legion Award as a freshman. Now there is a part of us missing with a dear friend gone. Only a lasting memory remains. in Another loss to the students and faculty was the passing of Mrs. Beulah Willett. She died sud- denly on Jan. 5, 1964. She had taught at Montrose for almost 38 years.
