One of the first orders of busines was to elect class officers. Judy Bolter was elected President; Glendyl East- wood, Vice-President; Carolyn Keith, Secretary; and John Germaine, Treasurer. Mrs. Rhoads was elected class sponsor. The year ended with a trip to Greenfield Village. Carolyn Keith and Richard Peterson received American Legion Awards. OUR SOPHOMORE YEAR The following year the class as sophomores looked forward to initiation day when they could seek a little revenge. But first was the election of class officers. Elaine Seeley was elected President; with Murray Vandififer as Vice-President; Janet Wilson as Secretary; and Pat Keys as Treasurer. Mrs. Rhoads was chosen as our class sponsor to guide us to the end of our high school career. Initiation was next on the agenda and on that day innumerable creatures from Mother Goose Land appeared on the school premises. Could they have been the freshman class? Soon the Homecoming game followed and Eva Conrad was the sophomore candidate for Queen. Carolyn Keith and Dick Peterson were given the American Legion awards. The year ended with most of the class wearing their newly purchased class rings. OUR JUNIOR YEAR Officers were elected as follows: Murray Vandefifer, President; Carol Johnson, Vice- President; Carole Papineau, Secretary: and Carolyn Keith, Treasurer. Joann Polcik reigned as Homecoming Queen and Carole Papineau reigned as P.T.A. Queen. Among the money making activities, was the sale of candy and popcorn during the foot- ball and basketball games. The Juniors also sold magazine subscriptions to supplement the expenses of their senior trip. In sports, this was the first year that our basketball team became District Champions. Several Junior boys played in the tournaments. They were Joe Keys, Stan Piechmik, Terry Sellers, Jerry Myers and Rick Cummings. Stan Piechmik was chosen as All County End in the football first team and second team for baseball and basketball. The Junior class sponsored the play. The name of the play was Annie Get Your Gun. Glendyl Eastwood and Richard Peterson received the American Legion Awards. Richard Peterson also was selected to attend Boys ' State. OUR SENIOR YEAR Seniors at last! First we elected class officers with Murray Vandefifer as President; Ron Fuller, Vice-President; Janet Wilson, Secretary; and Carolyn Keith as Treasurer. Next was the sale of Christmas cards. Glendyl Eastwood was the D.A.R. Good Citizen of the Year. Glendyl Eastwood was also chosen as Valedictorian with Pat Keys and Carolyn Keith as Co-Salutatorians. Judy Bolter reigned as Homecoming Queen. John Germaine and Carole Fejes were the senior candidates for P.T.A. King and Queen. In sports, Stan Piechnik made the All County first team in football and basketball. The Senior class presented their play Hillbilly Weddin ' with Mrs. Soderman serving as director. In May the class enjoyed the annual Senior trip to Chicago. And then — Commencement — the close of our high school career — but the opening of the door toward new horizons. We weren ' t the least amoung our competitors, nor were we the best, but our boys gave us the finest performances they knew how and who can ask for anything more? We are looking forward, with confidence, to the coming year when we hope far greater things will be realized and the training of this year will begin to be realized. This world is changing rapidly. Space cars are common and new inventions come fast and furious. Now, in 1970 — The Montrose Class of 1960 leads th e world in any attempted feat. Let ' s look in and see what they ' re doing. Polcik: Joanne is still engaged to Don. She got him to say I Will, but not I Do. Lee: Avis is now starting a one girl campaign to find out just what it is that couldn ' t be done. Kraxner: Bev is very happy since Susy, her youngest, just won an award from her little friends for making the best mud pie in the neighborhood. Walker: Carole is working as a hair peroxidist in Germany. She got her experience at M.H.S. Keys Keith: Pat and Carolyn are working formulas to find a chemical which attracts handsome football players. Eastwood Eastwood: Mike and Glendyl have gone into business to- gether selling their newly discovered product Eastwood Foot Wax, guaranteed to keep away ugly stains and odors. Arnold: Due to an expansion of the chemistry class at M.H.S., we see Richard Arnold co-working with Mrs. Yantz. Dunn: Ron we see has no tobacco problems since R.G., his favorite uncle, died and left him all his R.G. Dunns. Hall Moughler: We find that Tom and Lloyd have worked their way up to head janitors of M.H.S. Burgess: Sandy ' s picture is quite well known. It ' s in every post office with Wanted on top and Bigamy underneath it. Reed. Carol has discovered her hidden talent. She has just won the title of National Bubble Gum Champion with a bubble 1960 feet in diameter. Myers Devoe: Jerry and Dave have been court-marshalled for starch- ing the Company Commander ' s underwear. Keys Hobson: Since Mrs. Rhoads has retired, we find we need two teacher librarians at M.H.S., so Karen and Mary have taken over. What ' s more, they finally have the library expanded into Room 207. Westfall: Barb, we ' re sorry to say has run up too many clothing bills and has had to resort to selling Buddy to a glue factory to pay her bills. Verbrugge and Thomas: Jerry now has his own beauty shop. He always did have a way with girls. Of course, Sandy is there to watch what kind of treat- ments he gives. Keyes, Pardin, Lane: Joe has shown such talent in his writing abilities, he is now writing the script for the Clark commercial. To play the parts of Mr. Chief and Fizby he has chosen his talented classmates, actors Dick Rardin and Tom Lane. Buck: Looking into television, we find Keep Talking has a new cap- tain, our one and only, Bob Buck. Cole: Although everyone else is driving a space mobile, we find that Mike can ' t bear the thought of giving up his Ford. He has, however, gotten it painted. Peterson: Dick was such a good manager in sports at M.H.S. he now manages finger exercises for professional typists and pianists. Bolter: It is now 1970 and our queen of 1960, Judy Bolter, is still looking for a king. Cummings: We find the Journal has a new addition to the staff. Ann Landers has retired making Rick chief of the love lorn column. Johnson: Carol is writmg short stories using her pen name Floretta Fly. Hoyt: Linda, we find has taken her part of Ceelie to heart and is now residing in the Ozarks. Vandififer Fuller: Murray and Ron used their experience as president and Vice-President of our class to gain the positions of President and Vice-Presi- dent of the Murron Poodle Solon. Wilson: We find Janet Wilson is still an old maid, she was to be married last Saturday at 12:45 but as fate will have it again she thought it was supposed to be at 2:15. Stevens: Nancy is now the special investigator for station I-Y-A-K. Shook Woodward: Can it be possible, Kathy and Lillian have given up boys for knitting. Conrad: Instead of calling her Conrad we now call her Comrad as she has joined the communist party and is now working for her Uncle Nikita. Coppoc: Ruth has become an Ulcer Specialist. It seems she visited so many doctors that she thought in the long run it would be cheaper to become one. Polettie: Dave has been promoted from Assistant water boy to head water boy of the Detroit Lions. Friedl: Sally, we see is followmg in her mother ' s footsteps. She is teaching English to the Clio Mustangs. Delay Germaine: The two Johns have gone into business judging the new styles for the coming year. Their place of business is naturally called John ' s Judging Joint. Van Camp, Van Camp, and Dinnan: Sally, Sharon, and Sara are now managing the S.S.S. lonely hearts club. McClain: We see now in 1970 that Rosann is still toddling along at Ron ' s knees. Reed, Sellers, Tarrant: Jerry and Terry are making millions off the parking meters they installed on Willard Road, so Jack Tarrant is going to install them on Farrand Road as well. We wish him success. Moran Fejes: After 10 years, they have finally found a product, called Vanish, which will counteract their Man Tan. Nieman: Carol is now working at a finishing school showing young models how to walk!! Adcock: Sharene has had to spend the last 10 years looking for husbands for her sisters. Now that they are all found, she can start looking for one for her- self. Short: Due to Carolyn ' s natural love for horses, she has established Short ' s Rest Home for Old Horses. Dowd: Ruthann, after many attempts at other professions, has finally found one she enjoys. You can find her at every important auction sale. You see, she is a lady auctioneer. Vaughn Balonaski: Pat and Charene have nearly made a fortune. They ' ve gone into the very profitable profession of raising angle worms and minnows for fishing. Taylor: They said it couldn ' t be done, but Scott has finally broken open his piggy bank and found he has enough money to buy Deanna a ring (10c). eacite H l4)ili To Mrs. Axtell, we leave the hope that someday she ' ll have a mixed class. To Mr. Freeman, we leave a Used Car Sales Lot to put all the cars that his Driver ' s Training Students graduated from. To Mr. Garson, we leave a year ' s supply of Study Hall replacements. To Mr. Happel, we leave a granted wish. From now on, he may have as many girls in Shop Class as Mr. Gwillia m will allow him. To Mr. Kronenburg, we leave an empty application blank to apply for Superintendent to some school. He looks so dignified, he should serve a higher post. To Mr. Jacobson, we leave a few older students to teach. To Mrs. Myas, we leave a new pair of purple shoes and pink and yellow bows to go on them. To Mr. Messner, we leave the hope that someday his Glee Club girls will Ma-ma and Whoo loud enough. To Miss Poling, we leave an eight hour long athletic class. To Mrs. Rhoads, we leave a completely furnished, roomy, air-conditioned workroom and the wall of 207 knocked out. To Miss Rottier, we leave much laughter over the joke played on the Rampage Staff. To Mrs. Shoup, we leave a 95 by 41 typing room filled with clacking type- writers. Also an automatic timeclock for time tests. To Mrs. Soderman, we leave the hope that someday she ' ll be a famous Play Director. To Mr. Vukovich, we leave a Couch which might really convince him to become a psychiatrist. To Mr. Wolfson, we leave a set of Encyclopedias entitled Earliest Algebra and How It Began. To Mrs. Yantz, we leave the newest type of recently invented Chemistry room invented by Priestley — when there is an explosion, the top automatically rises. To Mr. Young, we leave the hope of an underground tunnel from his room to the boiler room. Also, to Mr. Young, we leave a Rambler Staff, on the ball, and getting things done on time. AND OTHER CLASSES To Ted, we leave less dirt and more gloom (without us). To Frank, we leave the hope that someday he ' ll find some ' Stardust. To the Juniors, we leave a vacant spot that we hope you can never fill. To the Sophomores, we leave you two more happy years of school. To the Freshmen, we leave the thrill of someday becoming a Senior. To the Underclassmen, we leave you more respect for the graduated and gone.
