for The choir. They began The
year by puTTing on The musical
Grease and followed by Their acT
wiTh The ChrisTmas concerT.
ThroughouT This Time, people
were audiTioning for All-STaTe
Choir and for The High Plains Fesfi-
val in Chadron, Nebraska.
The biggesT challenge, howev-
er, came in The lasT semesTer
when sTudenTs prepared for
small-group conTesT and The 2nd
annual pops concerT, all wiThin an
8-week period. To add To The
pressure, by This Time The Swing
Choir was in full 'lswing".
ln The end, iT was a memorable
year. The band had a challenge,
compefing wiTh The memory of
The greaT band of The year be-
fore. Mr. Early, however, man-
aged To pull The band TogeTher in
a shorT Time.

The cross country team at Hill
City High School was off to an
early start this year with their first
meet on September fifth. The
team joined with the Custer cross
country team in a coop arrange-
ment and as such saw the season
through to the last meet on Oc-
tober 3'1st. Consisting mostly of
underclassmen, the team should
be even stronger next year, es-
pecially with returning under-
classman Shelly Nelin who ran in
the state meet after placing 45th
