Q 5' Margaret Patton, Accompanist UHUR At Highlands there are many organizations for the self-expression of the student. Among the largest of these is the chorus, which meets every Monday and VVednesday afternoon. For half an hour on these days the auditorium resounds with selections, which range from Handel's Messiah to the recent arrangement of the Night Before Christmas. Although the chorus members join because they love to sing and enjoy singing good music, there is a great deal of hard work that must be done for the many appearances the group must make. Last year the glee club accepted over forty invitations to sing at various public and private gatherings. All audiences were pleased with the exceptional work of the boys and girls. Within the chorus proper are these other groups: the special chorus for use when space will not accommodate all of the eighty regular members, the boys' quartet, and the girls' sextet. Besides the Christmas Concert and the Spring Festival, which were very beautiful, the chorus took part in the popular Highlands Minstrel. For three nights the greater part of Ft. Thomas enjoyed the glamour and glitter of a good stage pro- duction. Radio, too, entered into the curriculum of the chorus and the group was heard on stations YV.Z.l.P. and XV.C.P.O.-T.Y. To culminate the year's activities a picnic and dance were held for members and their dates in the school stadium. Mr. Robert Knauf, director, awarded pins to all active members, the first awards in the history of the organization. 59
