1 a school far, far, away there was a ce: a disco dance. At this dance were n creatures motivated by rhythmic es of music, disco they call it. And the ining of this assembly . . . STAR .RS dance. 'es. on Friday. October 28. l977 the dent Council of Highlands presented a to dance revolving around the theme Star Wars, a science-fiction movie ut warriors in outer-space in the mid- of battle. The disco sounds of KAPE e played by Marvelous Mel for the ,cing pleasure of the 750 students in ndance. Villiam Pitts headed the dance com- tee responsible for the events success. :y decorated the student lounge in a fashion similar to scenes in the outer- space adventure which the dance's theme reflected. The posters that hung from the lounge walls were done on colored paperg with the black being outer-space. The artwork used was painted onto the paper with flourescent paints that glowed under the powerful black lights. Other special effects used by the committee included a mirror ball, Star Wars costumes. and a laser machine. Members of the committee doned homemade costumes depicting characters from the movie. They also presented a multi-colored laser show. The multi-col- ored beams danced on the wall, reacting on vibrations from the music being played. The dance proved to be a great success. The students enjoyed the dance, and it yielded a good sum of money for Student Council. Obviously, the force was with them! Far left: Some of the costumes the hosts of the dance wore.
