Being a senior carries many responsibilities-to uphold the name a nd tradition of High- lands, to make good grades for college entrance, to respect both the other students a n d the teachers. ln short, being a se- nior is a iob of growing and maturing into a well-rounded adult. The key factor to maturity is responsibility, the key factor to responsibility is forethought. To look before you leap, al- though platitude, is a very wise warning. To realize the outcome of certain acts requires not only maturity, but also the wisdom that comes from learning from mistakes and from always ad- vancing, never retreating. High- lands' seniors face this problem of forethought on the road to adulthood, and in the tradition- al style of preceeding seniors, they accept the challenge. A cool lake furnishes the atmosphere for quiet thought. Chuck Hixson hopes that he can maintain his bal- ance on his lofty perch.
