Kilt Clad Band Wins third State Championship We're No. Ii againf cheered the Highland Band as they accepted the first place trophy at the Indiana State Fair Band Contest for the second year in a row. The hand's first winning trophy came in 1968. On the track, the Highlanders were led to victory by Drum Majors jeff Gen- try and john Ranshaw, and Head Major- ette Kim Young. To the familiar strains of the bagpipes, the band and major- ettes executed a new Hing step. In the fi- nal maneuver the band faced the crowd and concluded their winning perform- ance to the impressive tune of Impe- rial Solemnityf' a Scottish score. The Championship victory gave Highland a tie with Ben Davis and An- derson High Schools for winning the band competition three times.
