She, the officers, and the council members have worked hard to make 1968-69 a busy and successful year. The Student Council has sponsored many activities to promote school spirit and provide entertainment for students. The pep rallies for football, basketball and wrestling were organ- ized bythe council, which also provided buses to many of the away games. The Pep Club has made signs and pep tags to stimulate support of athletic events. The selection of the football queen and her court was also supervised by the Student Council. Maintaining the Lost and Found and decorat- ing school bulletin boards are a few of the serv- ices the Student Council has provided for stu- dents. lt has sponsored the sale of Highland decals and book covers and organized the re- ceptionists and hall monitors. Although many of its projects were con- cerned with school spirit and service, the Stu- dent Council feels that its most important duty is to represent the students. Standing commit- tees, such as the Assemblies Committee, Cur- riculum-Change Committee and Smoking- Lounge Committee, were appointed to deal with specific problems and proposals which stu- dents had presented. The Advisory Committee, acting as the go-between with the administra- tion, handles student problems. -
