Middle School In Second Year The second year of our middle school concept is begin- ning to demonstrate the cooperative and creative work of students in a greater way than when the traditional junior high was operating. The resources of the children are be- ing realized and have indicated themselves in the activities they have initiated. Several ofthe departments have shown improvement: a beginning course in electricity is being taught, the UPS programj Introduction to Physical Science program has been implemented, the mathematics curriculum has been restructured with future plans to be continued, the seventh grade language arts QEnglish and Literature classes involving three groupsj wrote and presented a play which took a great deal of planning indicating student creativity and ability to present it to an audience. As for the physical plant, projection screens have been placed in about half of the classrooms for use with the overhead projectors, film strips, and any movies per- taining to class work, many classrooms received new bulletin boards, the library has been reorganized, the counseling room and the offices have been carpeted and appropriate drapes hung to give the surrounding a plea- sant atmosphere a face liftingf' The home ec depart- ment also did a goodjob in bringing color to the walls to make them more cheerful.
