To the heads of the depart- ments fall the tasks of conferring with the students majoring and minoring in their departments, plan- ning the curriculum of their departments, seeing that the department upholds standards of accredi- tation, orienting new teachers, co-ordinating de- partmental projects, and making recommendations for the placement of graduating students. These, the department heads, are the channel through which the instructors work with the ad- ministration.
