fag' 'NT1-sfx Q, 5 Ami' Lookmg Back ln the fall of 1943 the present day Semor Class entered the grade school burldmg of Hlcksnlle On that flr t day some of us were frlghtened some of us bewlldered none of us knowmg exactly what to do We hare been together for twelve years now and we are almost as exerted about graduatlon as we were about Stafllng our flrst day of school We hate lost a few of the begmmng puplls and also gamed a few Now we are a class of thlrty SIX slxteen boss and twenty glrls We are all lookmg forward to 'Nlay 25 1950 That 19 our day the day we haxe been patlently wartmg for Graduatlon That word sounds wonderful for lt marks a turmng pomt ln our llxes SIX years ago we were eager sesenth graders We remember clearly how we got lost trymg to locate the Study Hall or maybe the Wlath Room wrth that new kmd of de k The upper classmen dldnt help ans by g1v1ng us wrong dlrectlons but after we wan dered around for a whlle we fmally dxscosered thelr whereabouts 'Vly but there were a lot of thlngs to learn We were allowed to go to pep sesslons assemblles and to haw dances just hke the bug klds ln 19.31 we were green Freshmen 1n1t1at1on was the mam 1tem for the flrst SIX weeks None of us were as frlghtened as we pretended we were really growlng up now We helped elect the Homecommg ueen and attendants Some of our class serxed as walt ers and waxtresses for the ,lunlor Show As Sophomores we contlnued to work for our class tr1p whlch seemed so dlstant We sold basketball programs had noon movles and dances We also sponsored a class dance on Valentlne s Day wlth theme Sweetheart s Serenade We must have been good at waltmg tables because we were agam chosen to serse for the Junlor Show Durlng our ,lunlor year we were really busy Desplte the fact that most of us had heavy academic schedules we took part 1n many extracurrlcular actlvltles We gave a play Hrllbllly Weddm and our dance The Sock Hop turned out to be very successful We publxshed the school paper Spoondrlft Uur most lmportant project was the ,lunlor Semor Banquet w1th the theme Oriental Gardens Weeks before the event we started makmg decoratlons It was hard work but we feel sure that the Senlors the Class of 54 appreclated lt As Semors we had a very busy year Our mam objectrve was ra1s1ng money for our class trlp to Washlngton D C We sold magazlnes Chrlstmas cards publlshed the Hrxoman operated concesslon stands at the football and basketball games, and had a bake sale ln addltlon to these projects we sponsored four dances throughout the year The flrst was the Homecommg Dance Then we had a class dance IH November wlth the theme R8dl0 Statlon H H S This theme was chosen because we gave away a radxo On December 18 the gymnasium was transferred 1nto a magmfmcent ballroom and we presented our Chrlstmas Formal Our last dance brought royalty to HlCkSVlllC High the annual Coronatlon Ball We enjoyed ourselves very much at the Junior Semor Banquet and Prom Agree mg that rt was very nnce and comparable to ours the year before, we st1ll mlssed the work that 15 so much a part of lt It w1ll seem strange ln the fall of '55 when we won,t be returning to the halls of H H S. for another wonderful year Looklng back through the years we have spent together and knowmg that we shall mlss one another, we realxze what wonderful memorles the class of 1955 has to recall 20 , 1 Q . 1 .1 . - a S V x' V - n e Q , 7 pp- ax, L, v- 1 iv V v . - Y v p . , 4- .
