Ill III up - 1 , my 1 FARM SHOP 'UF' HIGH SCHOOL GRADE SCHOOL LIBRARY OLR DREAM V, ADMINISTRATIUN AND FACULTY The teachers and administrators at Hicksville display school spirit in their own quiet, steady pursuit of the year's work. They help the student who has been ill or discour- aged, exercising patience in ex- plaining and re-explaining the as- signments of the day. Endowed with degrees and long years of experi- ence, they can offer much and do give much to their pupils. They have been a guiding light to us in our everyday learning. Yet, they go "beyond the call of dutyv to help us in the time of need and share our troubles, whether large or small. They give of their precious time to help boost clubs, direct plays, and supervise other activities. Yes, they are a part of us. We are indeed fortunate to have such teachers as these. With administrators who know the teachers, and teachers who know the pupils, H.H.S. stands unex- celled. 0 zu gx QA , .'.if O 41 ADMIN! Yds B- ORGANIZATIONS Whispering . . . or maybe sounds too loud to be called whispering. shuffling feet. and scraping chairs marked the opening of a club meeting. A committee conference to de- cide on decorations or food, dues to collect. and programs to plan often brought complete chaos to the correct observ- ance of parliamentary proced- ure. An unexpected guffaw or giggle . . . a slightly uncon- trolled temper . . . disagree- ments. disappointments . . . but more often harmony . . . learning by doing. HONOR .A RY FOOTBA LL CO-CA PTA I NS Harold Smith and Eddie Perry' were chosen by the team for many different reasons. The main one. however. was their good conduct and sportsmanship shown on the football field. .Another reason was that they' both got along with the rest of the team exceptionally well. Also they had the ability' to play' football and worked as hard as they could for the benefit of the team. ln the scoring you wouldn't see their names: however. it takes eleven men to make a team and Eddie and Harold did more than their share to help the others do the scoring. So by' looking at it from every angle. the team couldnit have picked two more deserv- ing boys to be Honorary' Co-Captains. FOOTBALL CHEERLLA IJERS More "bounce to the ouncei' best describes these four girls. Hankie Linder. Delores Slat- tery. Bud is a versatile player, not only can he hit long shots, but he can also drive around a man, leav- ing him spellbound. Defensively, he has taken rebounds from taller play- ers and prevented many baskets from being scored. JACK RADER Guard He has become a valued substi- tute with the ability to shoot and steal passes from unsuspecting op- ponents. Jack has been a definite asset to the squad this season and we will be looking for him to do great things next year. HAROLD SMITH Guard and Forward He is a very valuable utility man, playing every position and executing them all well. Hal's favorite jump shot has put us ahead in a game many times. His defensive maneuv- ers, driving in for lay-ups, and time- ly rebounding are assurance of his great will to win. JIM BROWN Forward and Center His height has been valuable to the ball club, both in rebounding and those timely tip-ins. Jim's ability to hit the basket from out on the floor, as well as in the pivot, his clever passing, and his competitive spirit have made him a great asset to the team. GARY DEMUTH Forward and Center His rebounding and his ability to get the ball into play have helped the team out of some tight situations. Gary will be with us next year and look out theng his will to win has been a great contributing factor to this year's success. NORMAN WOODRUFF Guard and Forward He hasn't seen much action on the varsity this year, but Norman will probably be in there pitching next season. MAX KEMERER Forward Max also hasn't seen much action this year, but he will have a chance to "show his stuffi' next year. He has the "will to win" spirit that has given the team the added punch they have needed at various times. REX HURNI Guard He has made quite a few opposing players look up and take notice of the way he intercepts passes, his ag- gressive front and back court man- euvers, and his sharp shooting. By the way he plays, Rex has shown that his only desire is to win. BILL BRICKER Guard He has proved himself a stellar guard both defensively and offensive- ly with his quick set shots, clever ball handling and the way he steals the ball from opponents. Bill has shown what fight a little guy can have as his competitive spirit grew stronger with each game, and will be expected to be much stronger next year. if , X 19. "QW Wx' .hi I EY "T 5.9,- W.. Larry Tom- linson, John Hootman, Zollen Tucker, Norman Woodruff. George Nolte. and Linus Slattery. Our reserve team, coached by Mr. Howard Schneider, has done a great job this year. Although lacking in experience at the beginning of the season. they have shown steady improvement as the year progressed. Another point which should be brought up is the good sportsmanship shown toward the officials, the opposing team, and particularly among the members of the squad. A motto which the team has learned to follow is, "One for all and all for one." We are looking forward to seeing many of these boys on the varsity in the near future.
