Such was the life of the 1954 Hixon- ian Staff, who raced in high gear from September to June preparing this copy of your annual. So, step right up and meet the staff: H ixon in n The Best Yet We, the members of the Hixonian Staff of '54, are well aware that the primary purpose of the annual yearbook is to pre- serve the experiences of our school life at HHS. In order to do this, we have tried to make our book different by introducing summer delivery so that we could incorporate those activities which were impossible to include be- cause of the necessary early deadline. Through the co-operative assistance of our advisor, Mrs. Mary Culler, and students of HHS, we hope our endeavors to make this year's book the best yet have been successful. H. S. marching band or the concert band. both consisting of fifty-four members. Under the direction of Mr. Agne. the band has worked tirelessly this year for tone and unity. They have bettered themselves by one-hundred per cent. A v In the fall. the marching band presented many entertaining half-time shows at football games. each time improving their performance. They also marched in the Halloween Parade. the Armistice Day Parade. Christmas Parade. and the parade contest at Auburn, Indiana. Co-ncert band then took over the spotlight, and all efforts were put forth to perfect the wide variety of music for the.Def1ance County Musical Festival and the annual Spring Concert. The top-ranking band members were chosen to participate in the Festival The Spring Concert, in addition to the Senior Band. also included special numbers by the Junior Band and a twirling spectacle by the Majorettes. The band's final appearances were for Kindergarten Commencement and Senior Uominencement. The band is once again coming into its own at H. ll. S. and is attracting more and more students into its ranks. Although the band did not take part in the band contest at Bryan. Ohio. this spring, we are sure that in a few years the Hicksville High School Band will be rated as one of the best hands in Northwestern Ohio. t'on,Qratulations and keep up the good work.
