S. once again start its football machine rolling. On what seemed the hottest days of the year, you could see the fellas working out like mad. Sweat flowed freely, but they endured it with the hopes of making this year's football season a blaze of glory for dear old H. H. S. With the return of 8 letter-men, our hopes were very high for the season. Among the seasoned veterans were Blackbird Hostetler, Big Toth, Mousie Jones, Ed Bakle and Max Culler of the Senior Class. The lower classes produced lnjun Charlie Wetzel, Dick Kreg, Phil Tuttle, Bob Lehman, and Dick Babcock. Shortly after football practice began, the polio epi- demic came along and upset the schedule slightly, so with only four serious practice sessions, the Aces, with that old do or die spirit went into their first game. Their biggest trouble seemed to be broken bones. ln the very first game John Durre, a new member of the squad, broke his leg. Then Max Culler pulled a leg muscle, and in the Payne game Co-captain Bill Hostetler broke his leg. In spite of all this, however, the Aces turned in a very good season. When they hung up their pads, they had tied for second place in the League, and had been well represented on the All-League Team. Co- captains Toth and Hostetler held honorary positions on the first team and Babcock, Kees, Applegate, and Wet- zel on the second team. m, 31,,..,f Sapp, Ladd, Kaduk, and Drugg lnot pictured? - this was our Big Four in coaching. Mr. Sapp and Mr. Ladd, our regulars from last year, received much help from Mr. Kaduk and Mr. Drugg for the linemen. We were very fortunate, indeed, to have such an able and competent coaching staff. Always on hand when they were needed, they have all gained the complete faith of the boys and the utmost respect of the entire student body. mu.,,,,,,f .-gghs 'Nik :lim fm-D 0f t WN WP. .7oucA0!own Row l-Ed Neidhardt, Left End: A great competitor-A Good in a tough spot-Back next year. Well, you should, that was the night the Seniors made their debut on the stage, our stage in the gym- nasium. It certainly was a thrill to hear the crowd applaud as we presented our U. S. O. Variety Show to a capacity audience. l'll never forget the way it started. We had with us that wonderful danc- ing team Katona and Coskey who danced to that grand old tune Tea for Two, which still brings back memories. And for the ladies in the audience, l'm sure they all tried, Cook's Holiday special recipe for Sunshine Cake. Those hillbillies were the silliest this side of that old Mason-Dixon Line-and if you won't tell anyone l'd say that l think they had just about enough of their Little Brown Jug. I can hear the quartet singing yet, East Side, West iide All Around the Town. But the best, l think, was saved for last, as the old saying goes. Yes sir! Weddings usually make you feel a little sad, but this time not one tear was shed, everyone was too busy doing the Charleston But now seriously with all kidding aside l'd like to say, The Senior Class had a delightful time presenting the show, spending many hours of practice and work preparing it. With the help of our class advisors and other persons in the community, our show was made a great success. ll ufif gag M Cjred ie5v .t em V ': PM V. M JJ Q, 'VA . Like all seventh graders we made our mistakes and had to be told where to find classrooms, but finally we learned our way around and managed to get to classes on time. We chose the following officers to guide us this year: Marilyn Kennedy, Judy Adcock, and Robert Hurni. The supervisors were Miss Estella Annis and Mr. O. C. Rodocker. When we entered the high school building in nineteen hundred forty-nine we felt more sure of ourselves. This year we were guides for the seventh graders for we were old timers by now. To lead our class this year we chose the fol- lowing: Clair Slattery, Sharon Keener, and Dick Mastin, The Student Council members were Clair Slattery, Millie Jo Horn, Robert Hurni, and David DeMuth, The supervisors were Mrs. Berenice Bungard and Mr. Derrill Murphy. By nineteen hundred fifty we felt very much at home and really did not mind being called Freshies. One of the nice things about this year was the privilege of choosing a candidate, Jeanette Shanks, to compete for the honor of be- ing Queen of the Homecoming Football Game. Our candi- date was one of the attendants of Queen Connie Kennedy. We enjoyed choosing our own subjects this year. The class officers were David DeMuth, Marjory Tustison and Dick Mastin, and the Student Council members, David DeMuth, Lucretia Hostetler and Ralph Timbrook. The su- pervisors were Miss Esther Howenstine and Mr. John Kaduk. J 9 va' Weef fiw Junior Jv.4,i 'Hg Shaft if 3 Akg,. im 5 ' 5 Xi I ' fish- , V il.. ,..' 25. QQAM Qyracle ajshdorg In the fall of l949, our class of i955 entered the new building as very green seventh graders. We soon tamed down, however, and got down to business. At our first class meeting we elected as our officers the following: President, John Bakle, Vice-President, Phyllis Applegate, and Secre- tary-Treasurer, Eddie Perry. Our class advisors, Mrs. Davis, and Mr. Rodocker, helped us with our two class parties, one in the gym and one at Roadside Park. We were very fortu- nate in having chosen from our class the Jr. High cheer- leaders who were Phyllis Applegate, Nancy Dull, Pauline Ka- tana, and Henrietta Linder. When we came back to school this fall, we undertook the job of acting as guides for those little seventh graders. We surely had a lot of fun showing them how experienced we were! To lead our class functions this year we chose as President, Duan Roth, as Vice-President, Richard Amaden, and as Secretary-Treasurer, Pauline Katona. We had two wonderful class parties with the help of our advisors, Mrs. Bungard and Mr. Murphy. I guess we really know how to make the noise because the Jr. High cheerleaders were again chosen from our class. This time it was Nancy Dull, Pauline Katona, Henrietta Linder, and Bonnie Shuherk who cheered the Little Aces on to many victories. ' e , . K .. The big kids looked down upon us tolerantly, and just between you ond me, I think we reminded them ot when they were seventh graders and just os green as we, but of course you couldn't get them to admit it on a bet. Under the capable guidance of our sponsors, Mrs. Walker and Mr. Rodocker, and our teachers, Miss Henry, Mrs, Bun- gord, Mr. Murphy, Mr. Sapp, Mr. Tongring, and Mr. Walk- er, we soon learned the trick of appearing at the right class at the right time. We were very happy to welcome to our class two new members, Melvin Brock and John Zorins, a Latvian immi- l4 grant. We hope they will remain with us through our next five years at H. H. S. We soon got our class meetings under way and elected as our officers the following: President, William Bricker, Vice-President, Leona Katana, and Secretary-Treasurer, Rose Onstott. As seventh graders we don't have so many class acti- vities as the upper grades, so we all got a thrill when we had our first real class party in the gym on January l2, l95l. We are looking forward to another year ot even bigger and better activities when we will be eighth graders and will be able to look down upon those little seventh graders with that all knowing eye of experience. As very learned eighth graders, we looked down upon those little seventh graders and wondered whether we had ever acted that silly. Our officers, Ruth Graber, Eugene Katona, and Mary Brown, with our able assistance, kept the ball rolling for a year of many class activities. As freshmen we were first exposed to the school of higher learning, lt seemed a great privilege to be allowed to choose our own subjects instead of just taking what everyone else had to take. Initiation wasn't so bad as the upper classmen had threatened it would be. At first we were sure that we would all be murdered in cold blood, but they must have taken pity on us. Our freshman class officers were George Rosendaul, Brooke Tuttle, and James lrey. At last we are aettina to be some of the big kids. Our officers, Brooke Tuttle, Paul Slattery, and Elizabeth Benninghoff have done a great iob this year in keeping our class active. Our dance was a huge success. We chose royal-blue and gray as class colors, but our really big moment came when we ordered our class rings, and, believe me, we think ours are the best of any class yetl We are looking forward to receiving them next year along with all the events and excitement of being Juniors. 29 cijwfof flue ,Or-eaav The Spoondrift was published monthly during the past year by the Junior Class of Hicksville High under the supervision of Miss Jacqueline Henry and Mrs. Mary Culler. Since no journalism course is offered to students at Hicksville, work on the Spoondrift gives training in that field. Other aims of the paper are to inform the public of all school activities and to stimulate creative writing. Work hard? Yes, the staff of the Spoondrift has clone that very thing, but it was worth it. Their success, through work and co-operation, will bring back memories which will repay them many times over. We elected Lowell Ap- plegate, Jim Hirzel, and Bernadette Kenner as our class of- ficers. We had two class parties which were held in the gym. Our eighth grade advisors, Mr. Lykens and Mr. Zim- merman, helped our officers, Ed Neidhardt, Sally DeMuth and Bernadette Kenner, plan two wonderful class parties in the gym. lt was in this year also that our civics class journeyed to Columbus where we visited the state capitol building and other places of interest. When we returned in '48 as Freshmen, we elected Sally DeMuth, Bob Lehman, and Bernadette Kenner as our class ofticers and Carma Nelson, Bob Lehman, and Ed Neidhardt as our Student Council members. This year we sponsored a dance with the theme of Buttons and Bows. As Sophomores we chose our class flower and colors and selected our class rings. This year as officers we chase Ed Neidhardt, Sally DeMuth, and Bernadette Kenner. We spon- sored a dance in the spring with a theme of April Showers. As Juniors we have already received our class rings and sponsored a dance. We also made up the staff for the Spoondrift. As officers we have Mary Farlee, Sally DeMuth, and Bernadette Kenner. We are represented in the band, chorus, G.A.A., Latin Club, Commercial Club, F.F.A., cheer- leaders, football, and basketball teams. Under the coaching of Mike Sapp and his assistant Cleo Ladd, Hicksville is being built up into a formidable team. These two coaches have had to overcome many obstacles, one of the main ones being that Hicksville discontinued baseball throughout the war. This is only our third baseball season since the war, so when it ends we hope that Hicksville will have topped last year's 5-3 record. Coach Mike Sapp-What would we ever do without him? He's there every night giving his advice and taking jokes and wisecracks. What more could be expected of a coach? Ed Neidhardt-first baseman-Ed is always in there try- ing. Could more be expected of him? Jim Hirzel-pitcher-Jim's a lefty. We expect much of him this year and next. Dick Kreg-short stop-Dick is small, but fast. We think he resembles Pee Wee Reese. Bill Hostetler-catcher-Bill led the team in runs scored last year M9503 with 8 runs. Enough said. Bob Lehman-right fielder-Bob is one of the most ver- satile players on the team, serving as fielder and pitcher. Dick Babcock-third baseman-Dick is a veteran now, this being his third year out. Dick was second in runs scored last year with 7. Cleo Ladd-A very capable assistant coach. He was always right on the spot when you needed him, taping ankles, fingers, etc., and sometimes even substituting for the umpire when the ump didn't arrive. All in all they'll agree that he's a right handy man to have around. Donald Hissong-pitcher- Hissy is our other right handed pitcher, he shows much promise for this year. Norbert Kees- Nub another right handed pitcher, gave opponent pitchers plenty to worry about because of his uncanny hits. Max Culler-left fielder-This will be Max's third year out. Max is an efficient fielder and one of the best base runners on the team. Ben Adams-pitcher-He was one of our best utility out- fielders. Though he didn't play much, he was always on hand when he was needed. Jim Jones-center fielder--This is Mouse's second year out, but his first at center field. With the experience he gained last year, he should be plenty tough this year. Paul Slattery-second baseman-Although this is Paul's second year out, this will be his first year on the regulars. With a little more experience, Paul should give the opponents plenty of headaches. Jim lrey-utility player- Bean is another player who didn't get in the game too often, but he was always there plug- ging and we couldn't have done without him. 0 e Earn! This year the big gavel was given to Gerald Hinsch and the little one to Sally DeMuth. The quill and money bag was dele- gated to Elizabeth Benninghoff. The first business of the year was the planning of the in- auguration of class officers and members of the council. Soon, a committee was appointed to select full length movies for the year. Arrangements were then made for choosing cheerleaders for the football and basketball seasons. Homecoming and the inter-class basketball tournament were both sponsored by the council. Some of our accomplishments for the past years were: winning a gold award in Parliamentary Procedure contest for two years, entering five teams in State Judging, winning the Dairy Type School Contest at Van Wert one year and second the next year, sending five boys to State Camp and having one boy chosen to go to Boys' State. Some of their appearances included singing at Rotary, Chapel, and P. T. A. During Christmas they sang Christmas carols in the hall and presented a program of varied Christmas music. They showed their versatility by presenting many types of music such as sacred songs, classical, popular, and novelty tunes. The chorus meets only twice a week, but by squeezing in o few night rehearsals, they were ready for the spring concert on March 9. At the concert Walter Crowl sang a bass solo. Glen Wonderly, singing a tenor solo, Walter Crowl, bass solo, and a girls' ensemble, consisting of Dorothy Linder, Sally De- Muth, Rachel Wonderly, Sandra Slaughter, Mary Barkley, Nor- ma Poper, Kathleen Beerbower, Carolyn Cleland, and Georgia Davis took part in the Solo and Ensemble Contest on March 3l. On April 7 the chorus participated in the Band and Chorus Contest at Bowling Green. Quickly following the contest came the Defiance County Music Festival. Hicksville has taken part in this program for several years. The lucky ones who were se- lected to be in the group representing Hicksville rehearsed sev- eral times before April 7. Then on the day of the festival an all-day practice session was held, under the baton of the guest conductor, Dr. Kennedy, who directs the Bowling Green Choirs. Between the district contests and the state contests the an- nual Music Awards Banquet was held on April 20. This was an event anticipated by many, for here the members of the chorus received their long awaited awards for service. Those who had been faithful for three years received a key, while those who had spent all four years of their high school time received a pin. The State Solo and Ensemble finals were held at Ohio Wes- leyan at Delaware, Ohio on April 2l. Just a week later the Bands and Choruses whose ratings were high at the district took their part in the state contest held at Delaware. Jef Mi ave ufiic The Junior Band, first organized last year, is composed of thirteen seventh and eighth graders who formerly advanced from the beginners' band. Now known as the B Band, this provides an opportunity for training the young people for future years in the A Band. Practicing the brass and woodwind sections separately makes it possible for Mr. Tongring to give more careful instruction to the individuals. This makes it a very young group, but they did very well with their 34 members. They took part in the annual Christmas pro- gram held in the gymnasium. After Christmas, they got new songs to work on for the concert. Aside from singing such songs as Stars Are the Windows of Heaven, You'll Never Walk Alone, and Good Night, Sweetheart, they included such favorites as Alice Blue Gown, By the Light of the Silvery Moon, and You Tell Me Your Dream in their concert on March 9. We have enjoyed their work greatly and know they will be able to keep up the good work in future years. Although they were cut down in size slightly because a number of the boys went out for football, this didn't dampen their spirits one bit nor hamper those snappy half-time shows. Talk about work-outs-you don't know what exercise is until you get into the band! They did so much marching that their fallen arches were beginning to rise up in protest! They were well repaid for all their drilling, though, for at every game they presented a new half-time show with the snap and precision that would make even Ohio State proud. A typical show would consist of their ramp entrance, a hi , a let- ter far the opposing team, one or two other formations, and the H for Hicksville. Following the football season they began practice on more serious phases of music, but still didn't abandon their march music because it was they who led the parade opening the Christmas season in Hicksville. With the beginning of the new year they began really serious work on their concert and contest material. And of course along about this time came those inevitable and very nerveracking tryouts, Some were disappointed and some broke their arms patting themselves on the back, but that all goes with tryouts, By March 9, they were ready to present their annual spring concert. Meanwhile several ambitious souls had been practicing diligently for the District Solo and Ensemble Contest which was held at Bowling Green on March 3l. They included: Fred Culler, Judy Adcock, Mary Jane Smith, Carolyn Cleland, and Suzanne Bricker each playing a drum solo, Bob Van Horn, baritone solo, Bob Lehman, piano solo, Carma Nelson and Lloyd Countryman, playing trombone solos, and Marie Breidenbaugh, clarinet solo. The following Saturday, April 7, the band journeyed to Bowling Green for their district contest. Because of the reclassi- fication of districts, our band was moved up from class C to class B2 competition. Another boost for our band that day was the fact that they gave their old uniforms back to the moths and donned their brand new ones for the first time. On April l9, several members of our band participated in the Defiance County Music Festival held in Defiance. Ernest Manring, supervisor of music in Cleveland schools, directed the festival band. The next evening, April 20, the music department held its annual awards banquet. At this time our musicians received their rewards for all their hard work. A letter was awarded for three years in the band, a pin was given for four years, and a pin with guard was awarded to those in the band for five or more years. On the next morning, April 2l, those who came through with a first at the District Solo and Ensemble Contest rose bright and early to start their journey to Ohio Wesleyan at Del- aware for the state finals. How would we get to school in the morning? Who would take us home? To find four sweller guys You'd have to roam and roam. Right on the job each morning, Back again each night, Bill, Allan, Dutch , and Elmo We think that you're all right! What would we do without them? l-low would we get along? Who would we get to help us out lf something should go wrong? So many times we're thoughtless, And just make them more work. Someone really should berate us For being such a jerk. So to our two janitors Always faithful and true, We want to say, Thank you, And hats off to you! -Marie Breidenbaugh We think our four bus drivers, Bill Brickel, Allan Poper, Dutch Krill, and Elmo Waltenberger, are just about the finest anywhere. lt is a great responsibility they have of seeing that so many people get to and from school safely, and they have managed very well. They seem to possess an unusual amount of patience with us for you know there are times when kids will be kids, but they all seem qualified to handle just about any situation. We also wish to express our appreciation to our two jani- tors, Roy Bauer and Alvin Beardsley. They were always right on the job to make our school building a pleasant place to which to come. So many times we were thoughtless and just made more work for them, but they were always very patient and did their work cheerfully, even though at times it does seem a rather thankless job. we 'Auf' 'xl reariure CAQJ 0 emoriw Dear Diary, Graduates carry into their later lite many happy memories ot high school days. It is the purpose ot any yearbook to record and preserve these memories so that in future years it may be- come a permanent record ot the happiest days ot a person's lite. The responsibility of preparing t-licksville's yearbook ot the class ot l95l has rested upon the Senior Class and the untail- ing work and guidance of Mrs, Mary Culler, advisor. The word deadline really means something, and it was our most used word for a long time. ln the last minute mad-rush to get our assignments in, we all wished we had done them when they were tirst assigned to us. In spite ot the rushing, we have all enjoyed preparing this book, and hope you enjoy reading it. Larry, named Most Likely to Succeed, has shown much ability in leadership as our president and in his many other activities. Behind him is our vice-president, Gerald Hinsch. President of the Student Council and active in many other functions around school, Gerald is known for his big grin and his ability to get into trouble. Next is our secretary, Connie Kennedy. Being Homecoming Queen, Queen of the Coronation, co-editor of the Hixon- ian besides doing her school work and going steady with Bill have kept her a plenty busy girl this year. Last, but definitely not least, we come to our treasurer, Carolyn Wicker- ham. Known for her dependability and out- standing ability in all sports, it was no surprise when Carolyn was selected the Most Athletic Girl in the Senior Class, MJ... We, the class of l95l, wish to extend our congratulations to our valedictorian, Max Culler and our salutatorian, Marie Breidenbaugh. These two young people are well known for their countless 0 ong, .gfii Men To most people our class was no different than any other, except possibly as record noisemakers, but to Mama who was leaving her precious little baby all alone with strangers for the first time on that day back in '39, there was no other class like it in the whole world. I don't remember too much about it, but l have been told that things weren't too quiet. Yes, tears were falling and several wanted Mama, We soon got over this, and entered the second grade feeling quite mature, looking down upon those little babies in the first grade. We were given the opportunity to show our great musical talent by playing in the Rhythm Band. Everyone who heard us agreed that we must be full of music, for they swore that none of it ever came out. May- be we didn't sound so good, but we surely felt like big shots in our snappy red and white uniforms. The years flew by and suddenly we were entering the sixth grade and into social life, for it was that year that we elected our first class officers and had our first real class party. I think we'll all remember that menu-sandwiches, potato salad, pick' les, ice cream, chocolate milk, and cake. Mama had plenty of sick little darlings that night because, for some strange reason, most of us ended up with pickles and ice cream. In '45 the fifty-three of us entered the new building as very green and gullible seventh graders. By '46 we were old timers at the business, and undertook to publish a book, The History of Hicksville, in civics class. We felt very grown up, indeed, when Mr. and Mrs. Chaney chaperoned us on a trip to Colum- bus where we visited our state capitol buildings and many other places of interest. Freshman! How the word thrilled us with a pleasant SJ. . efforts, their scholastic ability, and their participation in many activities. They have attained this honor through much hard work and outstanding ability. We sincerely hope that Marie's and Max's success may continue after graduation. QOOJ fo .J6l0LU 011. thought of only four years left to struggle through. Strangely enough we lived through initiation lwhich wasn't really so bad after alll and further proved that we were really the rovin' kind by taking another trip, this time to Detroit. As sophomores we remember choosing our class motto, United We Stand, Divided We Fall, our class colors, maroon and gray, our flower, the yellow rose, and ordering our class rings. We worked very hard as juniors. ln the fall we gave our class play, Bolts and Nuts, a sensation, and there was Mama beaming with pride at her conviction that the entire cast had one foot in stardom. She was even prouder after we presented our variety show called Showboat which included the entire class. This year Mama also began to think her Baby was growing up as she saw her daughter receiving flowers and leaving in a formal, and her son worrying about flowers and the car-all of this for the Junior-Senior Banquet for which we had worked so hard. This, our senior year, has brought on its hard work with the U. S. O. Show, Hixonian, magazine and greeting card sales, homecoming, class play, coronation, and concessions at basketball and football games. But this was treated lightly for we were looking forward to the joy it would bring on the class trip to New York City. We will all have memories of the Junior- Senior Banquet, Baccalaureate, Commencement, and the many things that happened to each one of us. The school may forget us, but we shall never be able to forget our memories of good old H. H. She answered my numerous questions about the kids of H. H. S. Since she lives in New York now, Cher job in the WAF takes her' thereJ she could give me quite a few details. Francis Toth has a very classy night club called Bottoms- Up. In his fabulous place he features Peggy Dull as his favorite singer, along with her partner and co-star Alice Cook. They do a very colorful acrobatic number which is really worth seeing. Marie relates that while she was in training down in Texas, an old classmate, Carolyn Wick- erham, was stationed there. She is a career girl in the WAFS. It seems that Mary L. Schlosser has been sent to California, so she didn't get to see her ............... February 27, 1961 Today I received a letter from Bonnie Kees McKinley who lives in Saddlespread, Missouri. She told me that she lives close to Glen Wonderly who is a scientific farmer. They spent many enjoyable evenings together telling their families about their lives in H. H. S. Gene Paul Volkert, nationally known for his potatoes, lthey're as big as muskmelonsI lives very close. He's showing Ben Adams a Dear Diary, better way to raise those famous potatoes. March 6, 1961 Dear Diary, I can't write much because I must go to see Dorothy Otis. She's waiting for me at the roller skating rink owned by DeMar Keener. lt's called Girl's Dream. Same old DeMar!! He features at his rink two famous couples, nationally known for their skating ability, Jo Shull and Roger Miller, Bill Hostetler and Connie Kennedy. March 15, 1961 I am getting my picture taken at Ray's Studio, Jim has really made his hobby pay. As his assistant I found Mary Ann Katona who is studying art in her spare time. Dear Diary, Sharon Walters Gerig wrote me Dear Diary, March 24, 1961 Today I iourneyed over to 'Twerp, Ohio where I found Barbara Wonderly, Yvonne Driver, Martha Timbrook, and Jeane Engle. They have taken up residence in 'Twerp. This must have been carried over from our high school days. April 3,1961 the other day that little Joey needed his teeth fixed, so since her regular dentist was out of town she took him to the dentist that her doctor had recom- mended. To her amazement, it was none other than Max Culler and as his assistant, his pretty wife, Shirley Mettert. Dear Diary Dear Diary, April 18, 1961 Today I got a TV set. First program I listened to, I heard Norma Lobdell's Women's Hour. After her program, LaVeda Coskey and Judi Olsson presented their Advice to the LoveIorn. Then as a special attraction Norbert Kees SANG I Have But 5Oc. Well I must run, l'll write more later ................ April 21, 1961 I saw a very beautiful sign being put up, the face on it looked familiar, so I took a closer look-it was James Blalock and the sign read: If your doors hang open, use BLA LOCKS. They must be good if James is advertising them. Dear Diary, Dear Diary, April 26, 1961 Last week I picked up a famous model magazine and what should I see but Judie BIosser's and Katie Rohrs's pictures on the front cover. They're famous models now. April 26, 1961 Today I received an advertisement from Bakle, Hinsch, and Jones's Paper Wad and Shoot- ers, Inc. They are producing a new the top! Dear Diary, type of paper wad. They have really shot themselves to Dear Diary, May 2, 1961 I iust heard Margaret Struman's Guest Show on the radio. One of her guests was Norma Poper, singing the lndian Love Call. It really took me back to The Big Show we presented at our Coronation in '51. Then I heard the well-known correspondent, Larry Adcock. I think our Coronation TV Show helped him to take up that field ....... May 8, 1961 .Today I received a newsy letter from Pat Wickerham. She has finally achieved her most cherished dream. She is a dental technician in the WAVES. I guess l'll have to go now, I have to go on K.P. in a few minutes. The WAFS are wonder- ful but this K.P.!l Bye for now ....
