There on Easf Side I found my fhree old friends, Maurice Weeks, Freda I-Iiff, and Elma Brown, posing as welfare workers. They informed me 'rhaf Max Carr, 'rhe famous pianisf, who was 'ro presenf Mrs. Farrell Evans lformerly Violef Brownl in a concerf fhaf evening, backed much of fheir work. While yef in fhis cify I visifed Roberf Tripleff who is gaining fame as a carfoonisf and who, as a hobby, sfill creafes new explosives. In Pennsylvania I was infroduced 'ro fhe coal king who furned our fo be Floyd Kemerer. I finally arrived af I-licksville, my old home fown. I found fhaf Junior Tusfison owned a large dairy farm near l-Iarlan, Indiana, and Earl Reeb had invenfed many new confrivances for lessening man's work. Rufh Breidenbaugh and Annarose Barbeau lived near each ofher. I fhoughf fhey made very charming housewives. Coral Engle and Alberf Kocis were parfners in a paying furkey enferprise. Oraefhel Faulk had charge of a funeral home. She very happily fold me fhaf so far she had buried none of fhe graduafing class of '38. George I-look was feaching fhe Gospel fo fhe oncoming generafion and Lois Smifh Was mana- ger of fhe Menfzer Sfore. AI' Columbus I was ordered fo inspecf fhe Sfafe Penifenfiary. Only one old Class- mafe was fhere, Max Elder. They fold me fhaf he is one of 'rhe besf wardens in fhe nafion. ln Ufah I visifed a Tuberculosis Saniforium where Flora Miller-head nurse, and Richard Camp-General Manager, appeared on fhe records. Mary Chaney was Richard's privafe secrefary. I arrived in Los Angeles in fime fo see fwo planes flown by Dorofhy Ann Buck and Harry Carey lfhe Liffle Gianfl 'rake off for a franspacific race. On I-lollywood sefs I mef I-larold Cromwell, Elowene Eysfer, and Margarel' Gillespie. I also had fhe pleasure of sfaying al fhe Sf. Francis I-lofel. managed by Gordon Rowe. Sailing from San Francisco 'ro Alaska were Berl' I-lelsel and also Evelyn Sfrubing wifh her newly-made husband. Bruce Moore was Capfain and Bill Ginfher firsf mafe of fhe Gold Coasf Maid. I refurned fo Washingfon, D. C. for fhe inaugurafion of fhe new Presidenf, Joe I-larf, and fhere mef my co-workers, Vivian Monroe and Vera Coon. They reporfed fhaf Mary Rodocker and Kafhryn Schliesser were fouring Europe and Luella Rhodes owned fhe Niffie Dresse Shoppe in Paris. The former Marion Shull had wriffen fhaf she was very happy wifh her husband, Basil Pefers, who owns fhe confrolling inferesf in Swiff and Company.
