DEDICATION Miss Nina Plantz, principal of East Street School, will retire from the Hicksville School system at the end of this school year. Miss Plantz came to Hicksville in 1922 as teacher of the sixth grade. Later she became the first school librarian in the junior-senior high school on Jerusalem Avenue. She was also in charge of testing and visual instruc- tion. In 1927 she became principal and has since served in that capacity. She will continue to reside in Hicksville and plans to enjoy intervals of travel. Miss Plantz attended the Oswego Normal School, later receiving the degree of Bachelor of Science from Columbia and the degree of Master of Arts from the New York University. She also studied at Syracuse and Ohio State. She became a member of two honorary societies, Pi Lambda and Kappa Delta Pi, both at New York University. Miss Plantz has made a host of friends in our community w ho w ill long remember her devoted and efficient service. Many in our senior class re- member her as principal in East Street School. The Class of 1962, in token of their affection and high esteem, dedicate this volume to Miss Nina Plantz, a kindly counselor, administrator and friend. s
