The other day one of your editors saw a letter sent out by the alumni association of a New York City high school. On it appeared a surprising item: one of the association's active officers was a graduate of the class of 1900! We like to think that when the wheels of time have made their 63rd annual revolution from today, at least one Hewlett grad will be closely concerned with the school that has meant so much to all of us. Nowadays it is the fashion to talk as if the spokes of the wheel of life are slowly twirling to a halt for all of humanity. But, if we can ven- ture what is half a prophecy and half a hope, we look forward to many years during which our days here will attain their true perspective. Here we have been untroubled, although we never quite knew it. For no one ever knows he is happy in his youth until, in the words of the duke in Twelfth N ight, Time has sowid a grizzle on his case. So turn wheels, as slowly or as quickly as you please. As the years pass we will look backward with laughter and perhaps a little sadness. We will never be so young again, or so carefree. Hewlett, you have given us much. We will return to you often-if only in our thoughts.
