Text from Pages 1 - 192 of the 1964 volume:

All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely playefs They have their exits and thetf Rrances; And one man in his time plays many piftl? His acts being ... PROLOGUE: This building is the setting for the play. The place is Herrin High School, deep in the heart of Little Egypt. The time is the year 1963-64, a wonderful year in the lives of more than eight hundred students. Most of the action takes place within these walls. Of course, LIFE goes on else- where, but for the most part, the players strut and fret their brief four years here. In this setting, tomorrow's leaders work, study, and play. It is here that boys and girls chart the course which will take them to success and happiness, or to failure and misery. 76e “Soond SducatcOK Willard Brafford, Al Nelson, T. J. Creek, L. V. Herrin's track team is living proof that most Herrinites take those pearls of wisdom literally. Many boys eagerly await the beginning of the track season each year. Boys who sometimes don't excel in football or basketball often make excellent track men. Track is primarily an individual sport. In addition to bringing home track ribbons and awards, Herrin thinclads get much valu- able body-building exercise. In a sport where size is not so important as speed, and stamina is mere important than brawn, Herrin's track team shows what it can do. The Tigers participate in county, district, and state meets. 122 Artie takes a hurdle! Wow! What form! s4cttvitie On your mark; get ready; go! They fly through the air with the greatest of ease! BEHIND THE SCENES: Many people who come to see a play think nothing of the work that goes on behind the scenes. This work, although not presented under the spotlight, is essential to the quality of the play itself.
