Twenty-fire male members of the 8how- boat orew enlisted in the boys ohorus as an entertainment group on our Jour- ney. The boys ohorus was organized in 19 7 by Miss E. Huelsman. Offioera ohosen for this year were President, Merle Kost; Vioe President, Burnell Sohuetz- le; Librarian, James Martin. At the Hlokory Stiok Muslo Contest held at Mobrldge in 19 9 they reoeiv- a second rating. The ohoxnis silso per- formed at the winter and spring oon- oerts. A giMup of 45 Boys and Girls were enlisted In the Mixed Chorus to pro- Tide e• tertainment along the way. The Mixed Chorus was organized In 1947 by Mies Eleanor Huelsmann. A first rating was received at the Hickory Stiok Music Contest held at Mobrldge in 19if8.In 1949 a second rat- ing was received. This group also perform 8 at the Win- ter and Spring Concerts. 23

By this means the crew eind passengers of the Showboat are kept Informed of the latest happenings. In 1948-49 a second class honor rat- ing was awarded this publication by the SDHSPA. . A leading music organization in high school is Girls Glee Club under the direction of Miss Eleanor Huelsmann. Girls Glee Club was organized In 1940 Two part work was begun in 1942-1943. Three part work has piroven suooessful since 1944. Membership has been increasing every year but this year elimination was necessary and our glee olub was re- stricted to 40 members. The Girls Glee Club has entered the music contest at Mobridge since 1944. A third rating was received in 1947 and in 1948 and I949 the glee olub placed second. Every year a Mixed Chorus is select- ed from the Girls and Boys Glee Clubs. It has also been entered in the con- test. In 1948 the chorus received a first rating and in 1949 it placed se- cond. Officers for this year are: Presi- dent, Lyla Delbert, Vice President, Llla Ruber, Librarian, Veronica Brand- ner. 2f
