Our Basketball Destroyers made the Jovimey with the Showboat and played a hard game the entire season. Twelve out. of the 20 games played were lost by less than 10 points. Our Torpedomen, the Yellow Jackets, swept to victory In their first battle against the Selby Lions 10-12 In home waters. This was the first year of the Hld- denwood Conferenoe. Six Conference op- ponents were encountered during the season. The Yellow Jackets had one victory and five defeats. Opponents faced were: Selby, Bowdle, Pollock, Ros- coe and Hoven. One of the outstanding events was a 70 yard direct return hit on a kick off against the Koven grldders. Because of the few experienced Tor- pedomen, The Yellow Jackets played a hard but losing battle. Lettermen were Wllmer Delbert, Merle Kost, Spencer Clapp and Virgil G-oehrlng. Graduating Torpedomen are Wllmer Del- bert, Merle Kost, Edgar Kost, Donald Ebel, Herbert Rlsohe, and Teddy Quen- zer. The single wing formation was used In all battle engagements. 20
