Our Torpedomen, the Yellow Jackets, swept to victory In their first battle against the Selby Lions 10-12 In home waters. This was the first year of the Hld- denwood Conferenoe. Six Conference op- ponents were encountered during the season. The Yellow Jackets had one victory and five defeats. Opponents faced were: Selby, Bowdle, Pollock, Ros- coe and Hoven. One of the outstanding events was a 70 yard direct return hit on a kick off against the Koven grldders. Because of the few experienced Tor- pedomen, The Yellow Jackets played a hard but losing battle. Lettermen were Wllmer Delbert, Merle Kost, Spencer Clapp and Virgil G-oehrlng. Graduating Torpedomen are Wllmer Del- bert, Merle Kost, Edgar Kost, Donald Ebel, Herbert Rlsohe, and Teddy Quen- zer. The single wing formation was used In all battle engagements. 20
