Showboat officers were assigned the duty of keeping the ships log book during the past school year. The purpose of this log book is to record all the highlights and activ- ities of the 19if9-50 voyage. The aim of the Senior staff is to uphold the All-State rating attained by the 1948- 49 staff. Herbert Rische,a member of the pres- ent crew, was the originator of the name of our log book, the Herrelnette. We hope we can make this a worth while and memorable record of your year of duty of the Showboat. Duties of the staff were as Follows: Editor-Lyla Delbert; Associate Editor- Mary Catherine Senftner; Business Man- ager-Tom Bischke; Associate Bueiness Manage rs-Burnell Sohuetzle, Donald Eb- el; Class Editors-Lorraine Traxinger, Mary Ann Brandner, Bonnie Fenske, Ber- nice Sohuetzle; Activities Editors-Le- Roy Sattler, Wllmer Delbert, Deryl Fenske; Athletic Editors-Herbert Ris- che, Merle Kost; Feature Editors-Teddy ftuenzer, Edgar Kost; Typists-Bobbie, Brandner, Jean Salzsiedler, Veronloa Brandner; Proof Reader-LuElla Sohueler; Art Editors-Phyllis Kost, Marshall Gall; Grade edltors-Vernetta Bauer, Mary Ann Rltt; Distribution-Glen Soh- ueler, Howard Berndt. A very able assistant to he senior staff was Marshall Gall, a Junior, who pjrovided all the original art for our «innual. Marshall also assisted the 1949 an- nual staff. Our Torpedomen, the Yellow Jackets, swept to victory In their first battle against the Selby Lions 10-12 In home waters. This was the first year of the Hld- denwood Conferenoe. Six Conference op- ponents were encountered during the season. The Yellow Jackets had one victory and five defeats. Opponents faced were: Selby, Bowdle, Pollock, Ros- coe and Hoven. One of the outstanding events was a 70 yard direct return hit on a kick off against the Koven grldders. Because of the few experienced Tor- pedomen, The Yellow Jackets played a hard but losing battle. Lettermen were Wllmer Delbert, Merle Kost, Spencer Clapp and Virgil G-oehrlng. Graduating Torpedomen are Wllmer Del- bert, Merle Kost, Edgar Kost, Donald Ebel, Herbert Rlsohe, and Teddy Quen- zer. The single wing formation was used In all battle engagements. 20
