first annual herbert hoover talent show y The First Annual Herbert Hoover Talent Show or The First Annual Herbert Hoover Bluegrass Festival. Either of these titles would have been appropriate since a good portion of the Talent Show consisted of Bluegrass, even though only two bluegrass bands participated. First there was Ramblin' Grass, consisting of Matt and Mike Morris, Shayne McCoy, and Joe O'Dell. Mrs. Lipscomb joined in with the boys for their own rendition of Fox on the Run . Also, The Blue Creek Revue picked a few selections for which they placed third in the competition. Their band consists of Richard Hardman, Mike Melton, and Tim and Flip Morris. They, too, had some female accompaniment from Peggy Carpenter and Debbie Estep on Country Roads . There was, however, a wide variety of other acts. The formost of which in- cluded the genuine talents of Melanie Larch singing Songbird , and Pam Looney along with Sandy Cox singing If We Only Had Some Time , a song whose music and lyrics were com- posed by Pam Looney herself. There was also a dance by Renee Carper and Beth Young, which won first place, a barbershop quartet which placed second, a floor routine by Stephanie Huffman, and a demonstration from Mike Fink's skateboard team. Ohhhh noooooo! Who could forget the Mr. Bill's Show, or Crystal Jones Roseanna Roseannadanna, both taken from Saturday Night Live. A couple of other teachers besides Mrs. Lipscomb were also in the show. Mr. Dana Humphreys did an ex- tremely funny monologue, well most of us enjoyed it, right Conrad Searls? Mr. Gus Perkins also did a comedy routine, it was something about a wild and crazy guy , but we still haven't figured out what it was. Last but certainly least, let's not forget our witty Master of Ceremonies, Matthew Humphries. Although he was sometimes boring and occasionally didn't make sense, he was more often funny and the show could not have made it without him. Thanks, Matt. 72 Judges: Randy Damron, Pat Kelly, Dan Webb N. Bobby Hodges, Chris Taylor, Blaine Hess, Kenny Baker sing barber shop style. Elk River Band performs Rock and Roll
