take me out to the ballgame . . Cdon't forget the umbrellall The baseball team opened the 1978-79 season defeating the St. Albans Red Dragons for the first time in our schools history. After slaying the Red Dragons the Huskies went on to maul the Charleston Mountain Lions and chew-up the Sissonville In- dians. These wins sent the Huskies' hopes for a victorious season soaring to lofty heights only to have them come driz- zling down by the end of the Huskies' Brain . The final tally for our team was 7-11. Individual stats showed Greg Carnes hitting .317 with 11 rbiis, the leader in both Junior Varsity and Varsity. His brother Gabby, a senior, led the team with 10 runs scored, and 9 stolen bases. Crow Hall also led the team with 4 doubles and a batting average of .312. Gandee and Pete also had high averages of .290 and .259 respectively. The Huskies were plagued by a series of team injLu'ies which included two broken legs, two broken noses, dislocated finger and a multitude of other aches and pains.
