ZND 'ndi Birthisel, Ann Porta, Karen McClure, Teresa Slack, Rhonda Poling, Gail Jones. 3RD avid Gallian, Anita Greathouse, Brian Slayman, Cheryl Neal, June Casto, Mary Cun- l the historian wins honors Every spring for several years, The Historian has taken part in the Un- ited High School Press Convention sponsored by Marshall University. This convention is a two day affair with workshops for newspapers, year- books and broadcast journalists. The highlight of this convention was the presentation of awards. The Historian received four awards. For its' sports pages The Historian Won third-place. In the category of best editorial page it cap- tured first in its' division. Next came student art which placed second. Last, but not least, The Historian received third-place in the area of best all-around student newspaper. For this competition The Historian submitted four issues of the paper to be judged in nine categories: newspaper make-up, feature or special events page, sports page, original advertisements, newspaper writing, art, all-around student newspaper. Besides the judging of the paper The Historian was critiqued by a professor of journalism at Marshall. The comments and criticisms he gave the staff will enable them to improve the quality of content and make-up of the paper. The Historian welcomes sugges- tions from the student body and faculty.
