A necessary part of all modern schools of today is the Library, Nurse's Office and the Work Counselor. Hoover stu- dents find in their library a courteous staff and books and periodicals to cover every assignment. Sudden illness finds one in the Nurse's Office for help, al- ways expertly given. Many students are also very aware of the importance of the Work Counselor for they earn both money and graduation credits because of jobs obtained through its services. Phyllis K. we Miced 0 guidance Every sophomore, first entering high school, finds his counselor a friend and guide in be- coming acquainted with the academic side of Hoover. This relationship continues through- out'his sophomore, junior and senior years. During these three years, the counselors pro- vide invaluable aid in planning schedules and helping with any special preparations for the student's future after graduation. Upon leav- ing Hoover, we can look back upon our individual counselor as a very important and helpful part of our life at Hoover High. Long Beach State-M.A. in Fine Arts. .Arf an ugig Within each of us lies some creative instinct, waiting to be discovered and put to use. The Music and Art depart- ment at Hoover offers a variety of courses to help students develop these latent talents. Many of Hoover's extra- curricular activities are presented by this department. These include the annual Hoover Band concert, the Spring con- cert, and the ASB play Brigadoon . The results of these student-faculty ef- forts are also realized through the elab- orate art bulletin board displays and en- tries in QUEST magazine. Mrs. Harriet Buker, Frank T.
