She has insrigaled many plans 'lo im- prove rhe public schools and has made Afrlanra one of +he leading educarional cenrers in The Soulheasr. Under her guidance Jrhe communiry high school sysl'em was esrablished in I947. Each of The sixleen high schools has been evaluared and is fully accredired by The Soulh- easrern Associarion for Secondary Schools and Colleges. Every srudenl a+ Grady 'roday is benefiring from lhis sysl'em. Working ably under Dr. Jarrell's direclion are Dr. G. Y. Smirh, Mr. Roy W, Davis, Mr. T. W, Cliff. and Mr. M. E. Coleman. We have Jrheir fine slraffs ro lhank for 'rhe advanlage of educarion as offered in Allanra. The Board of Educaiion is a policy making body.
