Ice Castles Ice Castles, the theme of the 1980 Winter Carnival dance, broke the hum-drum of the everyday patterns of academic life. The mood of the dance was set by the band, Turning Point. It was intensified by the announcement of the court and the crowning of Ted Atkin- son and Kim Beard, King and Queen. The dance, sponsored by the Student Government Association, was a success. “= Upper: Last Year’s Queen, Terry Daley, — crowns newly-elected King and Queen, Kim Beard and Ted Atkinson. Center: The 1980 Winter Carnival Court waits anxiously for the King and Queen to be announced. Lower: Mem- bers of the court enjoy dancing with their dates.

30 Reminiscing Recalls Fond Memories Reigned over by the Homecom- ing Queen Yolanda Archer, the dance provided enjoyment for all who attended. The theme ‘‘Rem- iniscing’’ chosen by the senior class, aroused fond memories of past years at Henrico. The Home- coming court of ‘‘79”’ was pre- sented and music was rendered by J.J. and Company. The dance was a tremendous success.
