Thursday Night Thrills After a first game loss, the ninth grade football team exploded into a successful season. With the excellent leadership of Coaches Elam, Svor, and Criswell, the team finished with a 6-2 record. Hen- rico’s strong defense helped accomplish this by four spec- tacular shutouts. Coach Cris- well was quoted as saying, ‘‘It was the first time since the early 70’s that a ninth grade team has won six games. We finished as strong as any team in the league.”’ Henrico High will be seeing a lot more of these future varsity greats in the next three years. The Morning After The powerful B-Team of Var- sity football played success- fully on Saturday mornings. The B-Team consists of any varsity player who did not get a chance to participate on Friday night. They finished their sea- son with an excellent record of five wins and only one loss. i 72 The Cross Country team this year proved to be champions, with the aid of tri-captains Bill Hudson, Matt Rich and Bruce Sherrod. Coach Wagner led the team to an excellent record of 7-1. The team won first place in the District with the help of the number one runner, Matt Rich. The season was a SUuUC- cessful one for Henrico.
