Busy Bees Among the Business and Distributive Education Depart- ment faculty members Mrs. Frederick has taught here the longest. She has been at Hen- rico since the school opened in 1962. Mrs. Shelton was voted the wittiest, while the majority favored the entire department as friendliest. Their pets range from a toy poodle named ‘Taffy’ to a kitten called ‘Kaz’. Henry Bowling 122 Some of their hobbies include singing, dancing, racketball, rugby, and horseback riding. The school spirit at Henrico looks best to them. They are proud of the students and the appearance of the grounds. One teacher explained it this way: ‘‘The individuality of each student is the factor which makes this job interesting and rewarding beyond anything else | could imagine doing.”’ Margaret King Kenneth Epling Jacqueline Davis David Harwood Patricia Burcher Janet Staton

Sarah Carter Faye Conway Nora Newell Linda Werz at Frances Hickson Faye Rollings Janis Bean Foreign Cooking Among the foreign language department teachers, Agnes Stacia was voted the friendli- est. Along with her, Nora Newell and Faye Rollings ended in a tie for the wittiest. The Home Economics Department is too few in num- ber to fit into these categories, for there are only three teach- ers in it. The hobbies in this whole group include playing the gui- tar, skiing, crafts, golf, reading, Martha Perkins sewing, and horseback riding. The different names for their pets are Trouble, Fancy, Schultz, Maisy Day, and Jake. When asked what looks best about Henrico, they united in saying the flowers, the grounds, and the cooperation of the students. One teacher replied, ‘‘The school spirit and the united effort of faculty to make Henrico an outstanding institution of learning looks best to me!”’ Mary Sweet 121

Vernon Auman Robert Hayes Richard Jones Dennis Marrion Arts and Crafts Among the teachers in the Fine Arts and Industrial Arts Departments, Pamela Cosby has been at Henrico the long- est with ten years to her credit. The next in line is Dickie Jones with four years behind him. The most popular hobby is painting. Some of the other hobbies include scuba diving, photography, and woodwork- ing. Janet Masterson Cats were the favorite in the pet category. There were a few dogs and some teachers with no pets at all. When asked what looks best about Henrico, some of these teachers replied, ‘‘The friendly atmosphere’’, and others said, “The students’ enthusiasm and dedication.”’ Paul Siller 123
