English Excels Of the members of the Eng- lish Department faculty, one has been teaching here since the school opened in 1962. Mrs. Dorothy Payne has been here the entire 17 years of Henrico High School’s his- tory. The English Department has quite a widespread field of hobbies. Among them are showing dogs, sailing, and working crossword puzzles. Naturally, the majority of the English teachers listed read- ing as one of their hobbies. Most teachers claimed Linda Gilliam dogs and cats as their favorite pets, although there were some goats and birds also. Most of the English teachers had no pets at all. When asked what looks best about Henrico, one teacher commented, ‘‘The enthusiasm of both students and faculty looks best to me. We all seem to know we have the best school; therefore, everyone seems to pull together for the good of the whole school.
