90 Behind the Scenes This is Mrs. Valdrighi’s first year at Henrico High School. Her previ- ous job was with Bethleham Elemen- tary School and she has found the change to high school very exciting. Mrs. Valdrighi has two sons, ages twelve and fourteen. She likes to spend her vacation fishing on the Chesapeake Bay. Mrs. Bevan enjoys her work and likes helping the students. She loves it when the graduates return to visit. In her spare time Mrs. Bevan cro- chets afghans and reads. Her favorite authors are Leon Uris and Maureen McCullough. She has one daughter, three sons, two grandchildren and two more grandchildren on the way. This is Mrs. Harris’ fifteenth year at Henrico. She enjoys her work and says that the students and teachers make her job easier. Her son and daughter graduated in 1967 and 1969 from Henrico. Her daughter has a two-year-old girl and her son is get- ting his PhD in organic chemistry at the University of Florida. Mrs. Pennell’s daughter's husband is in the Coast Guard. They visited him in Kodiak, Alaska where he was stationed. They spent two weeks there in the summer. She said the water was beautiful and it is a haven for men — plenty of good hunting and fishing. Since her return, she has given several slide presentations on her trip. Mrs. Martin is a graduate of Her- mitage High School. LOUISE G. KING Library secretary ARLENE F. BURKS Clinic attendant THERESA R. DeRUSHA Cafeteria director ROBERT L. THOMAS Head custodian Mrs. King is one of Henrico’s avid sports fans. Her two daughters were involved with gymnastics when they attended Henrico. They are both stu- dents at V.C.U. and are interested in teaching physical education. Her oldest daughter is an assistant gym coach at Tucker. Mrs. Burks believes that the stu- dents here are the nicest of any school she worked with. The stu- dents and administration are very cooperative. She is proud to have had two children graduate from Henrico and one more who will eraduate soon. Mrs. DuRusha and her staff are very pleased with the new adminis- tration. They have noticed a marked change in the students’ manner and attitudes in the cafeteria. The staff appreciates the cooperation they receive from the faculty. They are feeding at least 70% of the student body which is more than ever before. In Mr. Thomas’ spare time he likes io i1sh and to- hint... He: hunts throughout Virginia especially in Buckingham. He even has his own hunting dogs. Mr. Thomas likes the school system because it gives him time for his pastimes. He likes the administration and he thinks it is very fair. He has been married for eleven vears. 91
