Football Says: Warriors Can't Be Beat On Saturday mornings, while the Friday night superstars are still dreaming of their glories of the night before, Henrico’s J.V. football team is out on the field eritting their teeth and holding the line to give their school] another victory. They over- came such awesome opponents as Freeman and Highland Springs. Key players were quar- terback — Ricky Ziglar, run- ningback — David Estes, and Linebacker — Kenny Coving- ton. For the most part, the J.V. proved that Warriors can’t be beat. 168

Henrico’s youngest gridders — the 9th grade squad, were under the able instruction of Head Coach Nelson Elam, and assistant coaches Dale Svor and Gary Criswell. Unfortunately the team had a disappointing season with a record of (1-5). Their toughest opponents were Fairfield and Freeman. Many of the 9th grade players show promise, however, among these being the tri-captains Glenn Thomas — Guard, Jimmy Har- less — Quarterback, and Keith Roberts — Halfback. As these players gain experience and grow older, Henrico may look forward to many winning sea- sons. 169
