When our teachers were stu- dents, they were involved in a variety of extracurricular activ- ities and sports. Forty-eight per- cent of those who answered played a sport in high school, and thirty-three percent played a college sport. (Three teachers played semi-pro sports.) Twenty percent of the respond- ing teachers performed in their bands or drill teams. Twenty percent were cheerleaders, and several of our teachers were majorettes. Twenty-seven were selected for Homecoming Courts or the equivalent. Just twenty-seven percent partici- pated in forensics competitions, but a grand total of sixty-three percent performed in plays and musicals. 97
