The teacher training program in professional education consists of two courses, the Major Sequence and the Minor Sequence in Education. Included in this training is a nine-weeks period spent as an intern in a cooperating public school where the student is a regular mem- ber of the faculty and participates in all of the activities of the school. This Division also offers a major in psychology for the benefit of those students who desire to become coun- selors, social workers, or who desire to secure the undergraduate prepara- tion necessary for graduate work in psychology. The Division also has charge of the testing program of the College, and provides counseling services for those students who need individual counseling in addition to that which their advisors find time to give. Business ffhucatiun The main purpose of the Division of Business Education is the training of business teachers for the high schools of Arkansas. The division encourages its students to prepare for more than one specialized area. Screening of can- didates for teacher training is made on the basis of general intelligence, an in- terest in the profession, a willingness to render service. Other necessary qualifi- cations are an outgoing personality and enthusiasm for youth in directing their learning. The division cooperates in a follow-up program of its graduates, so that every business teacher may be rated periodically on professional growth and given supervisory aid for improve- ment.
