A THE PEP PAC STAFF OF HENDERSON HIGH SCHOOL TWELFTH FDITION OF THE PEP PAC 181957 PEP PAC PRESENTS TO YOU THE THE PEP-PAC STAFF OF HENDERSON HIGH SCHOOL PRESENTS TO YOU THE TWELFTH EDITION OF THE PEP-PAC, 'UMM fke fkeme of fAe JJ .SMA .g ,Sf ? , 1 . , 1 i Z w frx.1'v-'-':W'l T'b YV 'l' 141' Yf7 I',LdT' 'Tr f FOREWORD We live for the future, but remembering the past and the heritage that is ours-we have adopted the theme of the Old South for the twelfth edi- tion of the Pep-Pac. We hope that the memories brought out in this Pep7Pac will compare in future years to the mem- orieshof the finer aspects of the Old South. Our efforts this year have been aimed toward making this edition a cherished possession for you in years to come. A TRIBUTE 6 T0 CUR PARENTS The annual staff this year has decided that there are some very important people in our lives who should certainly be recognized. They are - our parents. They are always ready to help us when we need it. They are kind, considerate, and thoughtful at all times. Sometimes they may seem hard on us, but usually they are right. We certainly couldn't get along without them, so hats off to you-our parents! Characteristics of the Old South were honor, love and respect. With this in mind we have chosen to dedicate this, our 1957 Pep-Pac, to Miss Elizabeth Hughes. Certainly we all love, honor and respect her because she is such a wonderful person. She always MISS ELIZABETH HUGHES wears a cheerful smile, and is willing to help you- even if it isn't in French or Latin. Her teaching has been an inspiration to us for the past several yearsg and we know we will always remember her in the future when we think about our high school days. ffl , fm I fm Q' ,' ?- ,, f ' v zfffi A , ' -4 ,J x 5 . He was remembering the happy days he had led As he dressed in a gown, and put a capon his head. They were all remembering their happy Freshman year, And our officers and sponsors who were so dear. With Lu as president and Jimmy as veep And Danny as Secretary, we didn't go to sleep. With Mr. Harrison, Miss Hunter, and Mrs. Clarke Misses Fitzgerald and Thompson too, we made our mark. As Sophomores in i954 we came To these most hallowed halls again, And elected Richardson, Harper, House and Hayes As officers to keep our torches ablaze. Waiters and Waitresses and so much fun We lost Miss Fitzgerald but a lot was done. In 1955 we became Juniors at last My o' my did we have to work fast, With Danny, Mary, Pete and Pat To make our moneybags soon grow fat. ln a fashion show and magazine sale, we turned on the charm, And proudly presented our Junior Play, Meet Me At The Prom! We got our rings and wore them to the banquet A Garden of Memories, we will never forget. With Miss Hunter, Mesdames Clarke and Young, and Mr. Harrison We rounded out a year of hard work and lots of fun. Now as the Senior Class, we look back today Upon the banquet and our wonderful Senior Play. ln this our year of graduation Miss Hunter left and we met Miss Jackson. Too, this year we all did agree On Richardson, Nethery, Carter and Crawley. And now as we prepare to leave our Alma Mater We come to realize that no other days were More wonderful or happier while we were here We'll never forget you, O' Alma Mater dear! Purposes of these orqanizations indicate that they are a definite part of the regular high school home- making program. They offer splendid opportunities for enriching the homemaking experiences of their members, for developing leadership abilities and for working co-operatively with their fellow students. Some of these activities are the following: conducting meetings in accordance with parliamentary procedures, serving on committees, taking part in assembly programs, plays, fashion shows, panel dis- cussions, teas, helping with exhibits, planning and engaging in picnics, dances and other parties, con- tributing to various proiects, such as CARE, to which they gave to the Hungarian Refugees, and helping needy families, helping to equip the homemaking department of the school, and helping to beautify the school grounds. All in all, these girls exhibit the activities which are necessary to become a real homemaker. By being a member of this club one learns to be more creative in the management of the home, and also by the association with others one learns how to be a member of a home. The high light of these programs was the presentation of This is Your Life, Mr. Hearne produced and directed by the band members. The band followed the football team to five out-of-town games, one of which included the District playoff at Greenville. After the close of the football season, the band then settled down in their new remodeled band building and worked up a fine Christmas Concert. Along with working up a concert, they were also kept busy getting ready for the Contest in Greensboro.
