Hemlock Families Are Home for Exchange Students Tsiuji was a very intelligent stu- dent from Japan. But like the Jap- anese culture kept pretty much to himself. He did participate in track and was a member on the wrestling team. As a student going from one edu- cational system to another felt that schooling back home was much more advanced. Tsiuji has two sisters at home in Japan but while in Hemlock stayed with the Butler family. Lisa Rose was a sophomore this year. She came from Denmark and stayed in the home of the Gjerstad family. Lisa wasn't in- volved in any sports, but she enjoyed the business area's of our school. She went to B.O.E.C. and ended up competing in Detroit. She also went to Delta Skill Day where she had lots of fun with the group. After school, Lisa's go- ing back home to be with her family. Lisa hopes to come back to Hemlock again in 1989 to see her fellow classmates graduate. It will be a happy occasion for ev- eryone. Peter Ludvigsen came to Hemlock as a Senior. He stayed with the Cherry family. Mrs. Cherry is actively involved with the exchange program. Her son Sean is an only child and very much enjoys having a brother for a year. Sean say's his brother is treated the same. Peter is 17 years old and has one brother at home in Denmark. He enjoyed playing football and track. Peter felt school was much easier in the States vs. Denmark. Exchange Students 11
