HUMOROUS HUNT Deer hunting has become so popular here at Hemlock that it seemed only fitting to include it in our “Revue”. Dave Schimpf and Gene Bishop from the staff of the “Two and You” newspaper at Steering Gear Plant 2 were generous enough to let us reprint these items from their paper. Does anything ring a bell with anyone? 1 a.m.— Alarm clock rings. 2 a.m.— Hunting party arrives, drags you out of bed. 2:30 a.m.— Throw everything but the kitchen sink into the pickup. 3 a.m.— Leave for the deep woods. 3:15 a.m.— Drive back home to pick up gun. 3:30 a.m.— Drive like heck to get to the woods before daylight. 4 a.m.— Set up camp. 4:30 a.m.— Head into woods. 6:05 a.m.— See eight deer. 6:06 a.m.— Take aim and squeeze trigger. 6:07 a.m.— Click! 6:08 a.m.— Load gun while watching deer go over the hill. 8 a.m.— Head back to camp. 9 a.m.— Still looking for camp. 10 a.m.— Eat wild berries and shoot warning shots. 12:15 p.m.— Run out of bullets, eight deer come back. 12:20 p.m.— Strange feeling in stomach. You realize you ate poison berries. Feel very sick. 12:45 p.m.— Rescued! 12:55 p.m.— Rushed to hospital to have stomach pumped. 3 p.m.— Arrive back at camp. 3:30 p.m.— Leave camp to kill deer. 4 p.m.— Return to camp for bullets, see partners deer hanging to dry. 4:05 p.m.— Load gun and leave camp again. 5 p.m.— Empty gun on squirrel that’s been bugging you. 5:01 p.m.— Eight deer return, gun empty. 6 p.m.— Arrive at camp, see deer grazing. one dead cow. 6:01 p.m. — 6:02 p.m. — 6:03 p.m. — 6:05 p.m. — 6:06 p.m. 6:07 p.m. — 6:09 p.m. — 6:15 p.m. — 6:25 p.m. — 6:26 p.m. 6:30 p.m. — 6:35 p.m. — 6:36 p.m. — 6:37 p.m. — 6:38 p.m. — and cow in the woods. block. mud. 9 p.m.— Bear finally leaves, climb down tree and wrap gun around tree.
