This year's homecoming parade had ten floats. Businesses and churches of our community entered their floats in the float contest, along with those of the High School classes and organizations. Steve Root, the student council president, made arrangements for the parade to travel down M-46 — the first time in years. The Junior float took first place in the float contest, the Methodist Church won second, and F.F.A. was given a third place. The Huskie band played the homecoming theme in the parade. All of this made the parade a bigger and more enjoyable one then usual. 11

We Showed Our Spirit ... The homecoming activities began Friday, October 20, with a pep assembly In the gym. Murph handed Steve Root, student council president, the envelopes containing the results of the homecoming election. The court and the crowd waited in suspense while Steve slowly opened the envelope. Finally he read the list of names. Steve Baumann and Michelle Wise were elected 1978 homecoming King and Queen. Upon hearing the announcement, Michelle's fellow cheerleaders gathered around her, almost knocking her over In the excitement. The pep assembly ended with the school song.
