Mortals of Helix High School, the 1987 Homecoming King is Andy Mounts, and the Homecoming Queen is Jaime Jeffers. This was perhaps the high point of a spirit week that featured a Greek theme. ln celebration of this annual event, many students wore to- gas to school. The fact that it was Fri- day thee 13th did not dampen the spirit of the many Highlanders taking part ei- ther as participants or spectators. Highlights of the spirit assembly in- cluded a visit and speech from channel 8's Larry Himmel, Principal Gerald Reckin's kissing a pig, the announce- ment of Senior Standouts, a tug-of-war between members of the varsity foot- ball team, and an ice-cream-and-top- ping eating contest between the king and queen candidates. Adding to the highlights of an exciting week was the football game against the number one team in the county - Mt. Miguel. The fighting Scotties held the Matadors scoreless through three quarters only to suffer the Friday the 13th jinx when the Matadors came back in the fourth quarter and win 16-7. Homecoming '87 was drawn to an end with the after- game dance held in the Helix gym. Had the Gods of Mt. Olympus looked down on the Highlander spirit during Home- coming '87, they would have been pleased. 4 ' . A 14 Homecoming Court
